My Take On True Internet Radio Dance Stations

Good to see you back on the board Russs.. I love Miami house 93.1 the beat,, and tampa breakbeats and although not an exclusive EDM channel WEPA.fm is good too and very miami sounding.. Im glad that 1club got nominated for best EDM channels,, i didnt know whether to vote for you or DI, so I left it blank. Also my dance hits-underground hybrid channel is far from profesional but i do the best I can.. I recently turned off the FM and am undergoing my legal ASCAP BMI license and a website,, i have a lot to learn and I know I can never compete with you, Mikeo or manny, but If i can maintain 5 to 15 listeners at a time, Im happy with that for a No budget hobby station.

Yeah he said the same thing about my website and then some and I think it's b.s. and so in that sense, I think we're in the same boat. You came in here "swinging" about "crushing competition" and such because that's where we all left off in 2004 but I think a lot has changed since then. Now that Energy san francisco, Energy Arizona and the Pulse are gone we are being looked upon (I speak of the stations that have been there since the beginning) to take it to the next level. Partner up with a club in your area -- all it takes is one Club or Station to do something "different" and then everybody wants to do it. When I first started posting here.. I used to think dance music was being misrepresented (by people who didn't care enough about it)....I see that we all care...but are too damn divided. We would rather sit in a dark room than come together to change a light bulb....why don't we all stop stepping on each others toes in the radio directories and come together for once?

FYI - our my.1club.fm is not calculated in Amazon because those stats goto the hosting company for our social network script... so again, pat yourself on the back. Ever heard of a CNAME? The CNAME is what gets Alexa stats... which is why Alexa is irrelevant in this day and age and ComScore and Quantcast are the industry standard. ::) So basically that 47.8% (half our traffic stats) goto the hosting service we use. So double what you see on there.

I just wanted to clear up that Quantcast requires their hosts to enter a code to their site in order to be counted much like Google analytics (which is what we use and what I consider industry standard) that is why our quantcast has no Fusion data and a bad comparison. I just wanted to clear that up for everyone else who doesn't understand how this all works. It is possible that Alexa doesnt Count Russ fairly because of he uses a masked subdomain AKA CNAME but I'm standing behind Fusion's Alexa numbers and Google analytics (as I posted in another thread) that we provide in our media kits.

All good Manny! We are leaving the social network service we have been using since 2007 - they suck... once our new community is up you will see our true alexa numbers after that (because it will be on our own servers)

Srsly though man.. keep up the good work.. I know you are making noise in Chicago!

"We may not have the biggest/baddest/best dance hits channel but when you add up all of our dance stations together, i would say that we crush the competition."

that was uncalled for and I'm sure others felt offended too --.

It didn't offend me, as I believe I said something similar in this thread. They offer alot of formats (including dance and many sub genres)....so i would agree. Plus they keep old Chicago traditions alive. They have former Hot Mix 5 members involved. You speak of them like they are new or don't have bragging rights. Quite the contrary.

Thanks for the support! I admit 100% that we have neglected our Dance Channels for the past several months.. We had so many things going on (having to move to a new data center, a new website, a new social network [I am praying we will be finished this weekend], etc, etc, etc) that the dance channels were the least of our concern.... but since the new site has launched we are already making huge changes. We are going to get back to concentrating on Dance Music more than ever before. For starters, our House (Miami), Altered State, Electronic Playground, and a few others have been completely dumped and started over from scratch with fresh new music and a fresh new sound. We have great DJs that we are thrilled and excited to have (including this board's very own DJ Perry) who does awesome work for us - by the way Perry.. I updated your pic!

We have tons of other new DJs that we will be adding once the new site is 100% completed. Our goal is to actually win IDMA next year. BBC (maybe even DI) will win it again this year.

We have lots of DJs whose exclusive contracts will be ending soon on XM that are eager to join our network of stations... We are basically starting over from scratch with our entire EDM department. I swear if I come off as a jerk.. I'm not at all.. I'm a pretty humble guy.. This has been an interesting conversation.. It got me back on here after a few years. Cheers!

By the way John Parker.. Kenny Jason from Chicago runs our Dance Hits Channel.. I will FF you over his contact info! The only channel I run out of all our channels is our Hit Kicker Country station LOL - I don't have a clue what is going on in the world of dance music these days... but I still love to listen to it!

Russ isnt you, Sal, KJJ, Carlo's and DJ Santanna the only PDs at 1club, if so I would say you do a pretty good job seeing as your hands are full. The breakbeat channel could be updated a little, but their is really no where on the web that plays florida breaks 24/7, and I realize finding quality breaks is hard to do,,, trust me, I l would be playing more Breaks if their were more quality up to date breaks available. I also enjoy your various trance channels.
