driving in this morning...the signal shows up pretty well on Stewart's Ferry as you cross northbound over I-40...strongest on Lebanon Road before McGavock...and around Spence Lane.
however...not strong enough for the transmitter to be in the vicinity: another search likely.
BTW...at 9am...there was a live voice "this is FM 89.9...W-B-A-L...the ballroom dance station" then intro-ing the next tune. pretty much confirms the non-licensed status...

If you really want to read about pirates go to this thread on the Indiana board. I guess the statute of limitations is in effect because there are a lot of people confessing.

I was at LP Field over the weekend for the Tom King half-marathon, and I remembered this thread while I was over there, so I was able to tune in to this station (although it was just a bit grainy) from the parking lot there. Had to manually tune it in, since it wasn't strong enough to stop the seek/scan. (By the way, you want to avoid LP Field on the second weekend of March every year, unless you are a runner. It can get very crowded, and many streets are closed in that vicinity.)

was in Inglewood last night...and "The Ballroom Dance Station WBAL" is still alive and well...
in fact, I listened while stuck in traffic this morning on Lafayette, and the "announcer" was live with
a multi-song backsell, 9:20 timecheck...and current weather.
they have to be stepping on someone else on 89.9...

All I know is, they're kinda stepping on the toes of a popular blowtorch in Baltimore... Good thing the real WBAL isn't owned by CBS, or they'd find these people on 89.9 and serve them with a cease and desist letter! :D

They seem to be stronger in Donelson. I do hear a Gospel Station from time to time fighting them on 89.9 in the morning on my drive to work. And, I heard a station that IDed itself as "Detroit's Conservative Talk" on 87.7 one morning. Not sure if I was hearing someone's Sirius/XM Radio FM Modulator or a pirate station from Detroit.

Punched up 89.9 this morning (Jan 12) on the way to work...surprised that they're back,
and with a much better signal. Some chatter, but mostly a listenable stereo signal from
Elm Hill Pike @ Bell Road all the way to Music Row. Much better signal than before.
Why would anyone risk a $10k fine to broadcast a Live365 big band feed?

still going strong on Monday night: I was on 40 @ 65 (near the science museum)...and heard
a live body give a time check (6:55pm)...and mention that you could hear the station's music by
clicking on live355-slash-ballroom. signal was pretty clean...long way from five points!

This Ramsey FM antenna is located in the backyard of a house next to the really good coffee shop on Eastland Ave. TAB has been in contact. The guy should get a job with WAMB, good music selection.

across from RosePepper Cantina?

I think I picked it up tonight, near Briley and I-65 heading east on Briley and north on 65. Big Band era music, right? I also picked up the pirate on 101.5 in Springfield on my travels. Two pirates in one day!

and the story now has an end:
the WAY-FM translator @ 89.9 in now on the air...so no more "WBAL...The Ballroom Dance Station"...
unless they try again on another frequency. nyahhhhhhhh.

If this is the 89.9 translator in Hendersonville, they must be using their "current" CP for 250 watts...I can ALMOST get it clear in Lebanon.
They have not mentioned the 89.9 frequency at all, so there's no original imaging like what The Fish did when they added 104.9 that I know of.

Crazy timing. I grew up in Hendersonville and lived in Old Hickory until I moved to Columbia a couple days ago. For YEARS I've been wanting and pushing for a signal on that side of town and the day I move 200ft from their Columbia translator, they finally get one. Good for them! I'm excited to test its coverage next time I'm up that way. They were missing a HUGE pocket of people in Hendersonville and Gallatin (and parts of Davidson County).

Speaking of Columbia WAY tranlsator, 99.3 splatters all over 97.9 under their tower for a few hundred feet.

WHOLLY SMOKES! I just tuned in 89.9 by the fairgrounds at lunch to see if I could get any reception and ended up listening to 100 Oaks Subway. The signal was surprising clearer than the 5kW directional only a few miles away. In fact, I was very surprised to be able to hear 89.9 on my cell phone radio in the office with a full signal indicator. 88.7 is nothing but static, as is 100.1 and the Fish isn't receivable on that radio (I'm near the fairgrounds basin). That 250 watts is getting out there! We'll see how far south it goes this afternoon. I'd assume nothing past the OHB hills.

Broadcasting from Whites Creek tower area? That's a phenomenal height.

Wow. This thing is 100% solid at Nashville West -- and something like 95% solid up here in Pleasant View.

250 watts from 316m up the -- who is it again who owns that TV tower? Where channels 28 and 50 are.

The 60dBu contour is 23.1km, a mere 200 meters (two football fields) less than Radio Lightning. Basically, it's a Class A station with most of the rules waived.....

They posted a message on their facebook about it -- recommending folks north of town that have issues getting 88.7 to give it a try! I am happy to see WayFM get some more signal in Nashville! - Great guys and great station!.

I see where Way-Fm (Way Media) now has the license for 80 watts at a nice location in Hendersonville (for that run up the Vets from Goodlettsville-Madison to Gallatin at 89.9.. I will see what they are doing with it... The Big Band guy might want to look at other spectrum... ;)

Not real up on the tx stuff..tried to grab 89.9 this morning heading east by the airport around 5am..it was wall to wall strong..then i heard an id for 88.7 turned to 88.7 and got the same station..do translaters broadcast over different frequencies ?? at the same time...not the techiest guy in the room..lol
