That and it would more than cancel out any HEVC quality gains. Do we really need more artifacting than now and DRM?

It’s a long way off if it happens at all. The wireless companies currently seem to have their eyes on reallocating spectrum between 2 and 7 GHz, rather than extending below 614 MHz, and supplementing with millimeter and “terahertz” systems.

Any reallocation of current TV spectrum probably won’t happen until wireless internet is essentially ubiquitous for all forms of commication. At that point the differentiation among various types of service will disappear.

Or they could cut down on the number of subchannels and diginets, and make enough space for two (or more) stations to share a single channel and maybe one or two x.2+ subchannels each.

I have to think that some of these diginets have very low viewership. Many of them exist only because LPTVs have to have something to broadcast. (I'm assuming that many of these would go away too.)

This isn't a good idea.
 
What is Landover Saturn 5 LLC and who is behind it? Do they actually own or operate anything useful? A search mainly reveals they hired a high power "lobbying" firm in October, presumably with plans to bribe their way to some stolen spectrum.
