NANCY ALEXANDER AND SHRINER given pink slip

Mix used to be loaded with strong personalities. Nancy, Mike Reeves, Bobby Rich, Larry London, Carrie Kirkland, and even Dave Mason VT'ed from San Diego. Now they got nothin as far I can tell, but I guess that is the (new) point of it.

Nancy in the Morning was the only radio show worth listening to, ever, in Tampa Bay (with the possible exception of Chris Thomas).

You're kidding right? I mean seriously.... EVER? Maybe to you, but audience research and ratings prove you wrong. ...and I'm not talking about the afternoon show of late. I'm talking when she was in her "prime" between around 2000 and 2005. Personally, I still wouldn't consider it anything groundbreaking or great.

Women are usually the sidekick on AM drive shows. Having a female person as the top clown on a morning show was/is unusual.

I did not say it was either groundbreaking, or great.
If you think audience research and ratings are the true arbiters of humor, taste, and creativity, you are following the delusional lemmings that have helped to make Radio totally worthless as a medium. The dreck that the diary-filler-outers spend their AQH's on, has nothing to do with anything "worth listening to."
In a world filled with BTLS, Sh(n)it, moronic happy-talk, and out-of-town VT, Nancy was emminently listenable: funny, sassy, smart, and fun. Her IQ alone probably equalled the collective IQ of the entire crew of some of the other "shows."

I don't know Nancy so I won't comment on how smart she is or isn't. I will say that one thing of which I have become convinced over the years is that "talent" and "IQ" are two separate issues. Some of the most talented radio and TV people I have run into would have a hard time pouring water out of a boot if you put the instructions on the heel. (The same applies to plenty of athletes and actors as well, come to think of it). Some people have both talent and smarts (Chris Thomas comes to mind) but just like politics sometimes being perceived as "too smart" is not good for a radio career. Just an observation.
