NANCY AND JEFF...JEFF FIRED

Looks like Cox snapped up Bubba before WMTX could debut the Nancy and Bubba show. Or would it be Bubba and Nancy ? If CC blows up Mix, Cox should snap up Nancy for middays at the Bone. Or Nancy and Cowhead? You can have a team in PM drive time.

Oh wow..lol

Nancypants and dirt on people... doubt it. At 13 they changed management several times in her tenure. It is more like that they had dirt on her. she made quite a mess of herself doing both gigs.

At 13 a lot of people had their reps and jobs smashed by her though. I think they had something like 27 photographers at 13. No One wanted to work with her. The guy (very talented photog) who made her schitck visually a success; she pummeled in the bosses office verbally to the point they had to be separated. This left her with some looser outcast to shoot her stuff.

Again, I do not think she has any dirt on anyone of importance; rather that she is running over anyone/anything who is not allowing her to make hay while the sun shines for her. She had pull at 13 since her 10:45 bit continuously brought the numbers back to what the show started at or higher. She lost out in the end due to her own self destructive behavior and became too much of a liability.

Blah blah blah- blah blah- blah blah blah blah- blah blah.

Jeff is on vacation.

Nancy happens to be one of the most talented air personalities in this town. She made Regis look like a stiff (which is why he would never hire her), with her glib and amusing banter. Gossiping about her personal foibles, while your all-American right, is unproductive and stupid. (Disclaimer: I am not an ex-husband or ex-boyfriend.)

How long is that vacation going to be? AllAccess has an ad for his replacement.

Go to job market, then job openings. It is message #216486 posted on 12/13.

Might be b~s...?

MisterNews, you are right on that. She does have talent.

As part of the Tv scrum, I can attest to that. My thoughts that if Jeff is gone, its because Jeff for some reason or another could not keep up with her in the Tango Marathon. Working with her, is very much like doing a non-stop Tango marathon. She intends to win/finish. She is driven, even at the expense of herself. On the latter, those of you who know her, know how much is destroyed at home.

Those that threaten that drive to make hay while the sun shines will be moved aside. This comes from her acts of "no-confidence" toward you. In the end, someone in the front makes a choice tween who makes $ and who does not. As it stands, she makes the $. Of the staff that moved to the roadside ditch in 13; I would say over half deserved it due to lack of diligence, effort, etc. A couple wanted the same light on the stage, somewhat deservedly, yet foolhardily. These ended up butting heads with her and lost. She is the queen of her show, her bit.

If I had the skills, I would have liked to have worked with her. I did not. She does not promise that its easy to work with her. Maybe Jeff just did not want the high octane drive at all times.

Lets see what happens.

Could be that he went on vacation (job-hunting) and then gave notice. But the AllAccess ad looks really fake; at the very least, highly amateurish:

"Morning Co-Host TAMPA BAY Mix 100.7
WMTX-FM is in need of a Morning Show Co-host to work with our AMAZING talented Nancy Alexander! Must have at least 5 years of morning show experience. Pro-tools, web-savy and the ability to prep like an animal a must!

Tape/Resume/Photo to:"

All Access also ran it as a news item. Nancy has the same hill to climb as a lot of female overachievers. No one thinks twice when guys climb there way to the top by stepping on anyone who gets in the way, but let a woman do it and the talk starts. (Make no mistake about it, I wouldn't want to work with her, but I could say the same thing about plenty of guys in the biz) As the opportunities in radio continue to shrink the competition will continue to get more vicious and so will the survivors.

My thoughts exactly. When someone like Bubba or Howard dominate a show--------that's the natural order. If a woman does that ( or runs for President)--------she risks being called a B***H!

Agreed, I think what many dislike about her is that she is pushing to succeed. She is making hay while the suns shines. She does what is teher for; make a pretty decent show and money for the big CC. The latter is what they want.

As to Jeff, he was there what amounts to a regular contract run. Wish him well no matter what the situation. All of Broadcast is rotting.

I can't give away my ID because CC would fire me to. I will tell you this. Jeff did a great job on the show. In the beginning you could hear the report that they both had. What you didn't see is the Deva herself started to see that Jeff was being accepted and admired by the listeners. He was building a relationship through events, Charity's, and fundraisers. The Deva didn't like sharing the spotlight with him so she started to squeeze him out of the show. Little by little she would only address her gay friend on the show and shut Jeff out. I walked in one time just after she finished chewing Jeff out for nothing. The look on his face was like someone just crapped on his birthday cake.
Nancy has had many people walk out on her, both friends and co-workers. Her last producer only made it a year before getting out of radio completely. Whatever you've heard about her is true. Even the Production director that worked there for over 20 years said that's one of the things he doesn't miss is the Deva.
Jeff was fired because he tried to bring the abuse to the attention of the bosses. I don't know what the actual reason was - no one will talk and Jeff hasn't returned my email yet.
I've got more dirt, and all you need do is ask.
FYI if you're even thinking about applying for the position that Jeff left open, think to yourself...do you want to work with a disturbed Martha Stewart type and take a back seat? That's up to you to decide.
Happy Holidays! : )

Her reputation is what it says. You should hear what they say in the hallways at her own cluster - witch would be an upgrade.

You obviously dont know her off the air. Talented - hell yes. Banter - good, some times too much. Nice person - hell no. She has a temper like a rabid mongoose, and is a very unhappy person. Talk to the people in the hallways at CC and you'll find that out.

There is no doubt that Nancy has talent, drive, and vision. We all have made it to a point in our careers because someone took the time to lead us and give us the tools to become successful. We as a radio family must give that knowledge to those men and women so that we can pass on the key to compelling radio, the ideas that build cume, and the invite that keeps the listener coming back. We must also remember to respect those within the environment that is there “mise en scene”. Nancy only afforded that when the mics were on. The people that have and are working with her say that it’s all about her and no one else. She’ll let others shine for but a moment to have it compliment her on the outside, but when the show ends, so does the accommodating pleasantries.
Hell hath no furry...

Excellent... an inside source within the 'evil empire'. ;D

I have some questions which I hope doesn't compromise your identity. So if you have to be vague then I will understand.

Will 98 Rock continue to flounder or will there be some significant changes on the horizon like a format flip? I never understood why they just didn't simulcast the Fiasco along with WJRR in the morning. That was actually a decent show.

Same question with Mix. Is Nancy really doing that well? Plus that addition of John Tesh in the evening seems to be another nail in their coffin. Besides, WMTX didn't work before (as Mix 96) and may be time to retire it permanently.

I realize the morale at the complex is at an all-time low with the constant release of talent of all levels and continuous cut-backs which there's no one to thank but corporate mgmt. And as a result of these brilliant decisions I, as a listener, have gradually tuned out entirely. No more syndicated shows and the local jocks (whoever's left) reading liner cards. I know, I know... this is what radio has come to and no changes to come in the near future. Man, I miss Jacor.

Good luck to those who are still there and love the industry for what it is... I mean was. Happy holidays and hope there are no pink slips under the tree in the lobby.

Hmmm Nacypants... talents I think we can do some agreeing; but I don't any of us here can say that she is nice.... even D and G would have a hard time too in saying that.

The format itself I agree is dying out, so her time will become shorter. If that happens, I wonder where they will put her next? We in TVland always thought that she would be best as a female rant on talk radio. She did the same at 13, leave many crispy cinders of coworkers in her wake. I would say that I was a masochist for wanting to work with her... ah the flames, good to burn off the old scar tissue...

If management was smart they would "spank" her and tell her to play nice; but these days no one in mang has the balls anymore to do that.

As to Jeff, he did great! There were some real spark sin the show in the beginning. I enjoyed the renewed life in that show. I agree with you he was marginalized by her as he came into his own light. Too bad, but I am sure he has a better chance in the long run of landing on his feet than her.

98 Rock is looking at options but a flip isn’t one of them. There may be a variation in content/ideas maybe. More on that story later...
Nancy's status has faired well, but the ratings will only hold till about 2nd quarter. Can't say the reason, but lets just say "old hat".
Tesh is actually doing well considering the content and the target.
CC is cutting corners and they should have a local show for nights, but it's not in the wallet. A shame really. There's much great talent at CC Tampa, and as we all know the more local (with talent), the better the tune in factor.
Keep in mind that current management at CC is being forced against their will to carry out the demands from lord Vadar(s). What else can you do when the bully of the school yard has your arm twisted up behind you.

I found Nancy to be a tigress in the glow of the tower lights. I always had the utmost respect for that woman. She's got the balls to stand up to CC for now, anyway. As for Jeff, he learned some great lessons: How they treat humans in the evil empire and how to work with a demanding professional. Jeff was the more disposable of the two, as CC's been cutting nationwide.

CC has been trashing their AC stations including the top ones . WLTW and KOST are going to 6 hour shifts like old time B/EZ radio. Lite radio in Atlanta is gone. WRLX in W.Palm Beach is gone. One of their pioneers in AC, Lite 98 in Richmond Va is down to 2 live segments daily. Is this a sign of a dying format? Or just CC ? Anybody know who still runs personality driven AC's other than CBS?
