NANCY AND JEFF...JEFF FIRED

Anyone want to take an over/under bet on when CC will take Jeff's picture off the Mix website? Are they that lazy over there? Or is it that they just don't care?

Mix took my pic off the site as soon as you mentioned it. I guess someone was cattle prodded into getting it changed.

Hey Jeff (assuming it's you... one never knows for sure on this site ;))... thanks for posting here. Rough ride for you bro, I'm sure, but you made the right decision. Nancy is talented relative to the size of the Tampa market, which is certainly not a bad thing, but she is universally disliked among her fellow employees.

Or so I hear.

Funny thing is, they still haven't changed the top banner on the home page or the banner on the morning show page. You're still there! I consider that incredibly lazy on CC's part, or whoever they now have heading their interactive department. An oversight like that would have NEVER been tolerated in the Randy Michaels era.

God bless that fat, crazy bastard. He's about to come roaring back to teach us all what we've forgotten in the last five years. And first in his cross-hairs? Mark Chase.

Well, Well, Well. Isn't that interesting. I just got back from vacation and was listening to the morning show and heard some guy named Chris. I was wondering why I had not heard Jeff in a while. I thought that perhaps that his family did not like it here or he did not like it here. Come to find out that he didn't like it here because of "Little Miss Powerpants". I am a Tampa native and I remember when she first came on the scene. She said that she was "abused" by the male DJ's and that it was a horrible experience. Apparently she learned the abusive way of doing things very well. Perhaps they should call the morning show "Nancy and PMS" in the mornings. The show is centered on women, (ie: "Mix Chicks") and men are made out to be the idiots, (ie: "knuckle dragging mouth breathers"). Her ex-husband, by her own account, is a great dad but they are a terrible couple according to her. My guess is that he got tired of her sitting on her pedestal and barking out orders. So CC has gotten rid of someone, again, that bucked the systematic woman centered atmosphere. They prefer to have a show that is catering to women and "gays" (I hate that analogy btw). There have been more than a few people that have left recently. Mike, Jeff, KP and Dewey come to memory. Now they have another young lady as E. P. and a whiner that is probably "light in the loafers". Hmmmmmmm, perhaps more Prozac will calm her down. As for employment? You can get a lot accomplished on your back and on your knees, kinda like Britney.
But of course, this is my own humble opinion and my opinion and $1.50 will get you a Coca Cola.

Hi I'm Jeff Moore, (aka Geoff Moore) and just wanted to set the record straight...
Yes, I was fired from CC in the beginning of December.
Yes, it was difficult to work with my partner though talented as she is.
In a way, it was a good thing that happened and sad at the same time. Good because there needed to be some way to rectify the situation, sad because I loved 99.99% of the people at that cluster including my GM, PD, and assistant PD.
CC Tampa has an amazing group of talented people. VERY few are difficult to work with, and we all know that many high profile talents in our industry can troublesome at times.
Some are making comment about the demeanor and treatment that comes from my previous partner, however I choose not to burn any bridges in regards to my situation. I will say that regardless of a situation, learn what you can and always share the positive knowledge that comes from it.
I appreciate the kind words and support. If you have any questions, my email address can be found at www.getgeoffmoore.com
Oh ya, and by the way - it would be nice if you could hire me so my wife will stop calling me a worthless bum.

In the words of the Duckman...

"the radio world is a cruel and shallow money trench...a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side"

Peace.

As for the "new guy" named Chris ... he's been around that station for a while; however, he sounds an awful lot like an vintage DJ named Sea Bass who used to be on 95 YNF. If it is indeed the same guy, he's pretty "old" as far as the business goes, so he is probably very happy to have a job and will work out just fine as he will be whatever he needs to be to keep the job.

Sea Bass did mornings for us at 98 rock from 90-93/94 Tom Sebastion never worked for YNF. He replaced Smith and Barber and was later replaced by Charlie Logan/Marla Stone/Lee Daniels/ Bob Narley, Combo's

Mea culpa!
I can't keep all of Tampa Bay's former and current radio stations straight! Have you heard his voice? Do you think his voiceprint resembles Sea Bass? I just remember a segment with Sea Bass that went something like this ... (it made me laugh out loud)

Caller: Sea Bass?
Sea Bass: Yes darlin?
Caller: Would you do me a favor?
Sea Bass: Sure darlin (sound of a zipper opening, with a huge twannnnnng)

I never knew what she requested because I laughed so loud I never heard it.

Good luck to whomever the new guy is at Mix!

Where is Cleveland Wheeler and Terry McKeever? Man, I can think of about 20 great jocks whose names I haven't heard in years, that came through Q105 in the big time 80s. It was Cleveland who "discovered" Nancy back when she was 17 and the producer for Chuck Harder at NSI (RBQ-AM). I recall that when Wall blew up the radio station, Cleveland went to Houston with Nancy then Gannett changed the format at KKBQ. Cleveland left and Nancy stayed to play country and cut her teeth on stardom there. Man, has that much time passed!!?

Did anyone hear the "official announcement" by Nancy this morning? She said that she has received numerous emails and calls regarding the whereabouts of Jeff. The reply: "Ummmmmm, there were some legal issues and the management let him go. Now you know what I know. The changing of the guard has been very stressful for me". Interesting to say the least. Let's see, you work side by side with a man for 14 months and management let's him go without telling you anything? NOT!!!! Perhaps the "legal issue" is, in fact, a gag order from management. Hmmmmmmmm...... ??? ??? ??? ??? .....something fishy here...... :-\

Hmmmm, you may be on to something. ;)

As far as the new guy on WMTX, it's Chris Randolph from Kentucky. He was VT'ing 10-12 after the morning show on WMTX. Very nice guy, hope that he does well and wears his Kevlar.
Surprising she said anything this morning considering CC's policy is not to disclose anything to anyone.
This could pose some problems. Hmmmmm.

Chris Randolph was at WQMF and “relieved” along with a couple others at the CC cluster. Very talented with many years under his belt. He was lucky in two respects; He had a friend in Tampa, and Jeff’s seat became available.
We are going to give Chris the heads up about Nancy.
Her unprofessional on-air comment on Friday in regards to Jeff that “management had to let him go do to a legal issue” not only made Jeff look bad, but WMTX as well. No one here has the stones to step up and gag her when needed. She did this (she says) because there were many inquiries about his absence.
I think whatever the issue, management made a mistake. Jeff had a report with employees, listeners, and clients. That’s why we’re getting calls and emails.

Known Chris a long time from working in Lou-a-vull before coming down here. Hell-uv-a talent and glad to have him in the building.
Jeff I barely got to know ya man but you were alright with me! I know you'll do well and grab something soon cause you did sound great so good luck.

riggie

Thanks Riggie, wished I'd got to know you better. I was looking for a place to go to where I could hang my hat. As I've said, many great talents at CC Tampa including you. Hope to work with you again in the future. Tell Chris I wish him luck, and if he has any questions he can mail me. Peace.

The way she put it was that the announcement she made was because of an overwhelming amonut of emails and phone calls that were received asking the wherabouts of Jeff. She said that the only the they would let her say was the above mentioned "official" press release. I have'nt heard Chris on there in a couple of days..... ::)

I saw an ad yesterday for "Nancy Alexander in the Morning" on TV. Looks like she may be flying solo for now.

I gave up on Mix's morning show as there were too many changes during the time I listened to it. How many news readers, producers and co-hosts have they gone through in the past few years.

Most of the personalities I have listened to (not all from around here) have been able to provide me with a stable product over a long period of time. The only changes were usually when upper management decided to flip the format of the station or replace the entire program in a time slot.

I'm still getting emails and calls from listeners asking what went wrong. I think one of the greatest things for us in the biz is for people to show support. So many times we wonder if we're having a positive effect or not. When people are concerned enough to write in, it makes me proud that I was able to entertain for a while. I intend to do it again soon.
Chris is still there...I think. He's doing the smart thing and laying low. I never had the pleasure to meet him, but I get the feeling he's a great guy.

Hi iimutt,
An inside friend told me that they're using just her name in things from now on so they dont have to spend the cash when...or if...someone else leaves.
It makes sense to do it that way. You mentioned turnover but there are only 5 that I know of, are there more? :-\
