Nash FM's Signal

Why does it take Radio Locator so long to update their database? It still shows WNSH as an AC station and links to the Love 105 website.

Why don't you apply for a job with them? You could help them keep up to date with all of the changes.

Now that there has been some time to check out the station's signal, it still my experience that while it is is great in NJ, it is not quite as solid as other major stations in many locations east of the Hudson River. This may be one of several reasons why country is a logical format for 94.7. If it had a format that was similar to what is being offered by other stations, such as a variant of A/C or CHR, it would have had at least a slight disadvantage in terms of reception.

BTW, the early beginnings of the national Nash branding- Locally, both WNSH and WDBY (Kicks 105.5 in the Danbury CT area) now have the same slogan at the top of the hour: "Powered by Nash, Country for Life." Other than that, there have not been any noticeable changes in Kicks 105.5's programming.

Especially curious about the signal in Manhattan and points E/SE, like Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island. When you say "not quite as solid" do you mean still local strength, or something which the average radio wouldn't be able to get clearly. I would guess Manhattan is highly sectionalized, with the west side (facing NJ and First Mountain) probably getting a fine signal, but as you go inside the city, it gets variable.

I know that WFMU (with a lot less power) is from the same site, and because of their unique (to say the least!) format, many go out of their way to pull it in. Suspect this may also be the case with die-hard country music fans. But the masses won't go to the trouble.

From the comments I've read on Nash's Facebook page, the only people complaining about reception have been on Long Island.

that's primarily because most listeners aren't in the city itself. If they were there would be complaints from there. I'm in Williamsburg-Brooklyn and the signal is spotty. You can pull it in but on the average radio you have to go to extra effort to get it clearly if you can at all. You can always hear it but not always well. Depends on the atmospheric conditions.
