WBOZ/WVRY do not even cover Davidson County.
Tibbs2 said:RLT is most vunerable to that. Still, the new sound is just not that wonderful.
I still like the station, but they're not taking risks nor breaking new music like they did...
Tibbs2 said:As far as Jetfli's comments on the Fan and Venus and RLT --- it's sad that you have to
report small growth (which means nothing positive really) for three cooked stations. Granted
the signal strengths cause a little of this, but there's just not going to be large followings
for the fringe formats or signals. Still, they ought to try.
Tibbs2 said:WNRQ did well and that is the ONLY competition Jack really needs to be
targeting. The recent swings at Jack are away from the Rock musically and while it's an
obvious thought that you can encompass more diverse listeners with more variety, Jack
here should be focused on getting and keeping the male Rock listeners.

Tibbs, come ON! Below is a list of over 100 new songs that Lightning 100 has broken in the first six months of 2006. (Is that not taking risks?) I don't see any abundance of 50 year old whiney females on there. I see at least 20 debut artists on this list. (Is that not taking risks?) How many YEARS do you think it would take any other station in Nashville to introduce you to over 100 new songs or 20 brand-new artists, if ever? Lighting has already done it this year and still counting. I see six local artists that no other station in America will play getting played on Lightning right alongside and as much as the national acts. (Is that not taking risks?) And what about Lightning breaking with the cliched tradition of relegating all special programming to the Sunday night, late night graveyard, and putting specialty shows of blues, live performance, acoustic music, etc., on weeknights at 7pm when someone might actually hear it? Is that not risk taking? What about getting the manager of the top independent record store in town to do an hour each week of underground releases that are left-of-center of the already eclectic AAA format? Is that not risk-taking? I could go on but, I think you get my drift. Not breaking new music or taking risks...I don't think so!

D.H.R.Y. said:If you look at this list of new songs that WRLT has broken in the last 6 months, almost half are by established artists that would have recieved the airplay anyway. For instance, the songs by Tom Petty and Red Hot Chili Peppers, I heard on other stations at least a week before WRLT started playing them. I heard the new Tom Petty on B-Rock 93.7 out of Cookeville several times the week before I ever heard it played on WRLT and 102.9 the Buzz was playing "Dani California" and other cuts from the Chili Peppers' new album several days before they were played on Radio Lightning. When I think of "Breaking in new music", I'm thinking more in the line of breaking in new music by NEW ARTISTS than I do of new music by ESTABLISHED ARTISTS that in all likelyhood would recieve the airplay anyway.Tibbs2 said:RLT is...(snip)... not taking risks nor breaking new music like they did...and if
