Nashville area FM for sale?

Hmm...WFFI, WNFN, or the new 94.5 move in? Snatch that puppy up Cromwell.

WNFN isn't an A anymore. They upgraded to C3 what, a year ago?

My gut says 94.5 but that's not based on anything.....

My gut says it'll be another station that radio station salesmen will claim has great potential, can have a signal in Nashville and claim is the next best thing to heaven itself. Meanwhile, it will have zero chance of any normal listener ever being able to actually listen to it in Davidson County.

I didn't realize WRLT was a class A with such little wattage, but I was wondering that, but didn't look. Is there a chance they could be talking about WANT? If so they're stretching it to say Nashville.

I don't think of WANT as a standalone, since the family has other properties. Usually when I see these listings "standalone" describes an existing property that is the only one owned by seller in a market, but "standalone" as listed may simply mean it's the only property for sale.

94.5 - con-firmed

Used to know a guy over in East Tennessee that referred to what the seller has done as "hog farming." since you are essentially "fattening up" the station to sell to the highest bidder. So who is the station most attractive to now? Salem? WRFN?

The contour map shows the coverage area, but with all the hills between Pegram and Bellevue (and then Nashville proper), it seems like the signal will be pretty problematic past I-440 and into downtown Nashville. It's also tough near Brentwood, Franklin and Nolensville and disappears east. No chance in the north or eastern sections of Nashville. While the west parts of Nashville covers some of the best demographics, it's going to have to be a unique niche format Nock. My guess is the $2M price tag of the CP is a bit extreme. My guess is that a religious organization will step up and complete the signal circle.

When Grace sold 97.3 in the Jackson area (Actually Atwood) they sold it to a group that kept the CCM format, except for adding more local news and sports. They also LMA'd 97.7 in Trenton and it became Black Gospel. but they've taken that station back and are mostly carrying the feed from Moody with some local programming during drive time. THis could be some indication of how they'll handle selling 94.5. I just hope that if it's to a Christian group that it doesn't turn out to be a dollar a holler outfit that would be the FM equivalent of WNQM. :p

You probably don't need to worry about WNQM themselves doing that. They got "scooped" by Bott when it came to getting a signal on the FM dial. WNQM and WWCR didn't even start broadcasting online until sometime after George McClintock left.

Long-coveted local (as opposed to KY) signal for WNSR?

that 103.9 frequency was always just a bad joke...but...94.5 would make sense for WNSR

I didn't have a problem with Bott getting an FM presence in Nashville. I just they had bought another station instead of WNAZ.

Chris, they were getting eaten alive by WIKY in Evansville when they were testing that signal too. I remember when they got that signal. Tower's still standing in southern Muhlenberg County, KY (my home county BTW) just north of Lake Malone State Park.

I also heard wrec in Memphis was up for sale. Is there a broker on the WLAS-WREC deal or is that just speculation
