Radiothon for Haiti relief efforts in conjunction with the St. Vincent De Paul Society from 6AM starting on Thursday.

You can hear the sound of radio dials changing the station...

Sorry, it's with the Red Cross not St. Vincent De Paul.

Any idea what they're planning on doing? Is it gonna be on the idea of those pink Polly cancer radiothons all the UV stations did a couple years ago. You're right, that would be tedious and a major tune-out.
OTOH, if it's more-or-less regular programming with lots of plugging a pledge line it wouldn't be too awful.

Nassau..an endless loop...send money...send money....it's the SAVE Lou Mercantanti's Ass Radiothon...send money.

JimC, you are a disgrace to humanity and to the broadcast industry to degrade Nassau for their efforts at this difficult time... your mudsliging when an entire nation is desperate for help has no place.

Jimc is obviously refering to the completely ridiculous loop that Nassau runs on the frequencies they were forced to dump. It's been a while since I've seen you posting on here 'Who', but I've noticed that most every post you make is in support of Nassau. Do you actually make that much money from them to continuously be their personal cheerleader? Just because Nassau pulls out their fundraising stunt a couple times a year, it does NOT make them a great company. I think a LOT of people would agree that Nassau represents everything that is wrong with radio today. The sooner that Goldman Sachs sells off the remaining stations, the better.

But then again, Who Really Cares right??

To be fair, they aren't the only ones. ::) Also, to be fair, I looked up if all his quotes were in support of Nassau. I found this one for Saga. ;)

This is the best news that I've heard in years for the Keene market. I'll be sure to tune in asap. By the way, what programs are on HD2?

Let us know when the press release goes out, I can't wait to see how the news moves the stock price.

Merry Christmas,

Who REALLY Cares?

I'm sorry to upset Lou's brother who joins these discussions from time to time.

I do have too many personal insights into Nassau and have witnessed how they process their efforts to feel too bad.

Yes, I've beaten the endless loop comments to death. Sorry.

But Nassau NH once actually discussed dumping the highly successful Lakes Region fundraiser The WLNH Children's Christmas Auction. Way in the beginning, the programming brains decided it was tedious and boring and..well frankly they actually said:"Who cares?"

The auction has been a tradition in one form or another for more than a quarter of a century. Raised lots of money (more than two hundred thousand dollars in recent years)for a numbe rof local community service organizations. Businesses, service groups, firefighters and others volunteer to make this a true success.

Nassau's New Jersey folks thought it was hokey. Several local programming folks banded together to tell them to re-think their decision.

They did, reluctantly.

Nassau joins the rest of the broadcast community on the Haiti bandwagon,so good for them. It looks good.

OK..so what are they supposed to do? It's not exactly a NEW news story. Making a heartfelt appeal, using their websites to conect listeners to the Red Cross, etc.

?

Point folks to the website .. let them give directly to the Red Cross.... I agree.
Seems like whatever they do can only help

Most Nassau stations are doing this. All of the New England Stations are.

Jimc and On Air in NH...I truely can not believe that you both have decided to take shots at Nassau Broadcasting for doing a company wide radio-thon with the American Red Cross to benefit people who absolutely had nothing before this tragedy and now are dying in the streets due to the lack of money and supplies. It seems Nassau can not win no matter what they do. Have you ever met Lou Mercatanti? If you did there is no way you would speak negatively about him, he is a brilliant and VERY generous guy that loves the broadcast industry and the people who work for him.

I have been in the broadcast biz for over 20 years and have never been involved with a company that cares more about it's people and it's brands like Nassau Broadcasting. These hard times have hit everyone where it hurts the most, the wallet, and like all other companies Nassau has had to make some tough decisions to stay alive! To speak badly of the CEO or the Head of Programming who by the way is a brilliant programmer and most of all an incredible human being means you are both just two uneducated fools who believes you are entitled to something that you didn't work for or deserve. I'm now waiting for splicer38 to start running his mouth negatively about Nassau as he usually does.

No I am not employed by Nassau NH or Nassau VT. Oh..."Jimc" and "On Air In NH" one more thing, since you have so much time on your hands please donate to the help Haiti Radio-thon.

Thanks

Jim

I'm a firm believer in your right to "trash away". However, your last post actually paints a very positive picture of the company you are trashing. There are thousands of companies that receive employee feedback and completely ignore and disregard it. This happens QUITE a bit. Your little story paints the complete opposite. Regardless of their initial impression of this fundraiser, they received feedback, obviously listened and changed their mind - relunctantly or not. You've informed me and others of a very positive attribute, not the opposite.

WMUR says that they raised $46,000 but doesnt say if thats just the New England stations, the NH stations or the whole company of stations. Good job either way thats $46,000 worth of food and water and meds for people who need it.

Yes I have met Lou. He seems nice.

AND..running your mouth is what makes this country great. The ability to express yourself openly without fear of being sissy whipped by cheerleaders like you...Weekend Warrior.
