NBC 10 Breaks it

I just heard it discussed on ch.6 as well. One wonders why a wife would sabotage a husband's career in this manner.
 
I call BS loud and clear! He didn't know? Is he using same defense that the IOC was first using about the actual age of the female Chinese gymnasts? They're finally investigating now.

Sorry, but his wife had to know the consequences being married to someone for so long. So not only did his wife violate Arbitron rules, she lied and sent in a falsified diary claiming 6 people between 25-34 lived in the house and listened.

If he's not terminated within the next few days...there will be a firestorm in the radio community about Citadel. Cutting jobs across the boards and wacking people due to cost cutting measures, some that probably deserved to stay in favor of high priced people that "don't know" their own wife is cheating on his behalf? Bulls--t!
 
John had no knowledge of her doing it? HA! So if that is the truth than why did he not just say that when confronted in the parking lot by ABC6. He couldn't even bring himself to deny anything. The reason he didn't deny is because he obviously DID KNOW what was going on! Depetro is so busted. There is no way around it. This isn't going to go away. The story is getting bigger and bigger as we speak. You guys at WPRO came up with a bad plan. You just wanted to sweep this under the rug by not commenting. Whatever genius came up with that bad strategy should be fired along with Depetro. At least two dummies on the trail just ruined a good thing. The station had respectable ratings and things were fine. But now backlash will soon follow. DUMB DUMB DUMB!!!!

I have always liked the Depetro. But now the respect I had for him is just going right down the drain. I don't like Liars. At this moment John should just tattoo a giant L on his forehead and join the ever growing list of people in radio who can't even manage an honest life. People wonder why I've soured on the Radio Biz. Now you know why. It's just full of slime. Makes me F*cking sick!

What are the typical consequences for an on-air personality whose family member has admittedly filled out diaries? I read in the Boston Herald where their personality was terminated for a similar situation? What has happened elsewhere?

I heard that someone was fired for causing three books to be in question. Depetro caused 6 books to be questioned. He should be fired twice! ;D
 
It's so obvious that Depetro is making his wife take the fall for this since SHE can't be fired. SHE doesn't have anything to lose. So Depetro came up with an idea where maybe he could possibly escape being fired himself. Let's just place blame on the wife. So I wonder how many people have been gullible enough to fall for his sob story so far. UGH...... makes me ill.

As I told a reporter a couple hours ago, and for reasons I've shared in the other thread, I'm sitting-this-one-out for a while.

Things have a way of working out.

I think you guys are making this so much more than it needs to be. The outrage is outrageous! ;D

What was done wasn't right, but it IS what wives do... support their man any way they can, even when and especially when it's the wrong way to do it. This is what love does for you...

If John loses his job, so what? He's got to know he has a wife who loves him too much! lol

As to the question of to whether or not he knew about it? Well, here's the thing with that: he may not have known before she sent the diaries, but also, like a good wife should, she probably confessed to him before it was challenged, so ipso-facto he knew about it before the ratings came out. Now, his not saying anything put himself in a bit of an integrity issue, but for some, they just want to know if they can get away with it. Well, he got his answer, and I imagine he'll suffer the consequences for it.

This is what I believe providing my hunch is true. (Had to add this, didn't want to be accused of slander.)
 
That Tammy Wynette routine worked for Bill and Hilary in the 90's, but anyone who knows Johnny, knows that this is a team effort. There is no doubt. Kristin has been his silent off-air partner since day one. She is involved in every facet of his show, there is no possible way he wasn't a partner in this crime.

You obviously work at Citadel and want this story to go away. It extremely important to anyone in the business who is concerned about credibility. Therefore, this issue will not go away until it's ultimately resolved. The reason Citadel finally came "somewhat" clean is that they were starting to lose massive amounts of advertising revenue on PRO-AM. It wouldn't be the top story on every TV station and website if no one cared. It will finally end when DePetro is fired. Then people will know that screwing with ratings has some penalties.
 
Mr Danman is correct. Granted John Q Public just gives this a passing glance, but this is a radio board & within that community this is a biggie that affects not only WPRO but any competing station. For the life of me, I do not understand why Arbitron even mails more than one diary per household. I was a diary keeper about 2 1/2 years ago & since I was out of the biz by then, didn't have any problems agreeing to it. They ask how many in the household want them! Give me a break! It should be one per household. If I control the clock radio, there's 2 people. If I put the radio on at breakfast & have 3 teenagers, there's 5 people. Is it me or is there too much distortion here?

Alfie I'd have no problem with you sticking up for DePetro or saying it was his wife and he didn't know. That's an opinion and you're entitled to it. But don't keep howling that it isn't a story. As has been said it's a story in the radio world like every other topic posted here. The fact that Joe schmo won't care that much isn't a factor since Joe Schmo doesn't care about much of anything in radio. Oh by the way there's coverage on the WHJJ website and catch the mention of sponsors that could have been charged 50-100% higher rates if this hadn't been corrected:

The only form of damage control here is for WPRO to take sides and I don't mean DePetro's side. Money talks. BS walks. Their only choice is to let him go or allow him to leave on his own in the near future to save a little face. Even if he knew nothing about this it has to be done.
 
NBC10 just posted the story with Video. Of course Depetro's wife wasn't available for comment. She has time to sit there and fill out 6 Arbitron Diaries, but she can't take 5 minutes to comment and try to save her husbands ass. Swift action needs to be taken. If there were a dog that could sniff out lies, I would say he would be running right to Depetro's house. HOW AM I STICKING UP FOR DEPETRO? All I sad was the story is OLD.
All I said was we knew it was one of his friends, family or him.
All I said was WHO CARES. But, beat it into the ground like Paul Muller at 6.
I don't suppose there's anything else to talk about anyway..
