NBC Announces 2008-2009 Schedule

Google News turned up some better articles on this.
Here's the Chicago Tribune's take, as an example:
http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/entertainment_tv/2008/04/the-office-gets.html

I don't know why they are wrapping up ER. If you can go 15 seasons with ratings and a liquid cast, what's the problem? Now they will have to spend money and develop a whole new show, which may, or may not work in that slot. Big mistake, imo...

The rest all sounds goods, and I'm happy to see a second SNL and a Night Rider pickup on the schedule. And an Office spinoff is a no brainer.

Wait...which The Office character will get their own show? Michael Scott (Steve Carrell)? Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson)? Jim (John Krazinski)?

Vega$ went off the air in 1981. ;)

Robert Urich died in 2002 so a reunion show is unlikely although I wouldnt mind seeing Phyllis Davis again.

Apparently no info on the new US version of "Top Gear" that Adam Carolla is hosting on NBC

Guess NBC stands for Nothing But Crap 'cause there sure isn't any new shows on that look interesting to me.

Was Vegas cancelled? What NBC shows are getting the axe.

I think Starbucks was talking about Las Vegas, which ran for the last 5 years with James Caan and later Tom Selleck.

That is what I was refering to. I didn't see it on the schedule.

I know that, I was being facetious. ::)

I vaguely recall reading something somewhere that Las Vegas had been cancelled. The writing was probably on the wall when James Caan and Nicki Cox left. Wikipedia says the series finale aired on February 15, 2008 and is in syndication.

Hence the "wink" emoticon that was used. I even knew the person was kidding around.

That is correct. Las Vegas was cancelled -- as were:

1 vs. 100
Amne$ia
Bionic Woman
Clash of the Choirs
Journeyman
My Dad Is Better Than Your Dad
Phenomenon
quarterlife
Scrubs
The Singing Bee

I am surprised Clash Of the Choirs was so-called "cancelled", since it ran only for a week (if that) around the holidays -- when we're subjected to (mostly) reruns anyway. Just like that "Baby Hit Me One More Time" that aired for several weeks during the summer a few years ago.

I thought that had huge ratings?

Ratings for the pilot episode were good, but the bottom dropped out every week since, so it's not coming back. Not really sad to see it go, either; the dark tone did not suit the premise of the show at all. Plus, Michelle Ryan didn't make a convincing American and, pretty though she is, was too delicate to be taken seriously as a kickass heroine. Put her on a sitcom as the girl-next-door, though, and I think she'd flourish.

I was down to Law & Order as my sole Nothing But Crap network show and now that Jesse Martin is leaving I'll probably be taking NBC off my favorites menu. Seems this season NBC is trying to emulate the Faux and CW networks. They're doing a pretty good job.

I can't watch that show anymore and haven't in the past 3-4 years.

Stories are trite, "ripped from the headlines."

The series won an Emmy in one of its first 3 seasons. I can't imagine that show ever approaching Emmy consideration.
It's so weak.

This incarnation of L&O is such a contrast to the first 8 years or so (the first five years for sure, the ones with Chris Noth), which were marked by strong writing and a more interesting cast.

Plus there's all the different cast.
