Does any body know if any of the other 50KW clear channels were single owner operations? My memory can not dredge up any.

Plenty of 'em!

Even if you limit it to the I-A clears, you've got WSM (National Life & Accident Insurance Co.), WGN (Tribune), WSB (Atlanta Journal), WBAP (Amon Carter)/WFAA (Dallas Morning News), WCCO (Washburn Crosby Co.), WHAS (Louisville Courier-Journal), WWL (Loyola U. of the South), WLS (Prairie Farmer), WHO (Palmer), WTIC (Travelers Insurance Co.), KSL (LDS Church), and WHAM (Stromberg Carlson).

Those were the days...

I knew about those, but what I meant was where single strong willed men such as Powell Crosley and Earl C. Anthony were at the helm. Although Crosley also had a manufacturing company unlike Anthony (who was mainly an auto dealer) their hold and personal involvement was unique. The others were parts of corporations which mostly had stockholders and as such were not so singlehandedly managed.

I would imagine that once you get out of the 1-A clears there would be a lot and certainly a lot more than today. A lot of what made broadcasting great was done by those singleminded but mostly community minded men (and women), yes those were the days.
