I've been listening to Neil Rogers since he came back from his Summer Break (I'd like to have summers off!). I think that right now he sounds as good as ever...bitching about phone calls, management doesn't know what they're doing, trying to get 1,000 responses to some senseless poll...Neil really is the Seinfeld of radio. I hope he keeps doing his thing in Miami for years to come!

Boy, you obviously never listend to Neil when he was good. His show has sucked for 15-years, since he was castrated by Management. Reading articles on the air and playing bits that aren't nearly as funny as the ones he played in the late 80's / early 90's is NOT good radio. Not his fault, blame the FCC. There was a time he was the most brilliant thing on radio anywhere. Now, to me anyway, he is unlistenable.

Neil Rogers wouldn't want you to know this but in real life he's a nice guy. I met him years ago at WNWS and I thought he was going to tear me a new one but he was very complimentary about the station I was working for.

That said I love it when he gives it to management. In radio or out we have all had to deal with boneheads in management but sometimes I cringe at the crude frat boy remarks. The old "can you believe what Neil just said" wears thin.

When something he says hits the mark he's good. After awhile the wining and complaining gets a bit much. He starts to sound like my Jewish mother-in-law. I used to say to her "Hi Mom is everything wrong?"

Uncle Neil is so good, that now though he's bad (but only compared to himself) he is still the best thing on South Florida radio. He was much better in the 80's and 90's but is still very good today.

Boca Brian made a bit that has some pretty harsh anti-semetic references. I'm Jewish & I know Neil is Jewish, but geez a bit harsh. I'm surprised no one has given him any heat for it in this day & age of the FCC cracking down & that dope Jack Thompson still running around.

It's on his website. Wednesday 9/26 3hrs 2min 50sec in.

He re-aired it today too.

To the guy who said Neil is nice "in real life"... he must of thought you were cute. I worked with Neil... he's an a**hole. But a radio God!

....ick I never thought of that! Probably not the case though. I have a face and body suited to radio only!

Let me add I never had to work with the guy. Maybe he was in a good mood the day I saw him or maybe a clone had taken his place??

When I first started listening to Neil, in 1992, his show was a breath of fresh air. He
was a brilliant talent, and the comedy bits from ACN and Rock Comedy Network were
superb. Guitarman contributed several great parodies, and Boca Brian occasionally
delivered a good bit. Ever since "Nipplegate" Neil has been over-censored by the legal
department of Beasley Broadcasting. He cannot use most of the off-color words that
you and I use in normal conversation. That negatively impacted his show. Also, the
comedy resources have changed, and he is far too dependent on Boca Brian. Boca has his moments, but they are few and far between. He certainly is no Guitarman. Too many of his musical parodies are of "Goodbye Norma Jean" and are mediocre at best. His comedy bits are too focused on Howard David and Steve Goldstein, and they
are yesterday's news. When Neil plays a Bob and Tom bit, you hear a distinct difference in quality. They are funny; Boca is not.
The only time that I believe the show became unlistenable was during the time leading up to the 2004 election. The anger and hatred toward Bush was a bit over the top, and I speak as one who refused to vote for either candidate. After the election, the
show reverted back to its old self. When Neil discusses pop culture, he is still a radio
genius. When he starts reading those hateful political articles, I switch to Colin Cowherd.
When the FCC gets its much-needed overhaul, and Neil can say a$$hole, ******bag,
and play those great fart, vomit, and belch sounds, the show will be back on track.
When he can play the old bits from the early and mid 90's, then The Neil Rogers Show
will be what it was, and that was the best radio talk show in America.

The criticism of Neil is akin to one I hear frequently about Howard Stern; without management to kick around, the show loses some of its edge. With that said, I don't think Neil has lost a step. Howard Stern included, can any of you name one AM talker that is as unique as Neil? Can anyone name a host to whom you stick by the radio, "waiting for what he is going to say next"?

Your analysis is very good, but I'm still not sure that he has lost anything that getting back to "Pre-Nipplegate" couldn't cure. On the other hand, Imus and Stern have both lost a step. The only saving grace on Imus' show were the great sports reports from Mike Breen and a few good bits by Rob Bartlett and Larry Kenney. Howard's "T'n A" routine just got stale. Listening to Neil now is like watching George Carlin on Nickelodeon, and he would never get an audience on
XM or Sirius so that is not an option.

Calling it "Nipplegate" or anything-"gate" is stupid. What does that mean? Watergate was one word and it was the name of the infamous hotel. There is no such word suffix as "gate" at least in the way you are using it. Come on people, think about what you are saying.

The "gate" suffix has, since the Watergate scandal, become a slang way of referring to controversy (i.e. "Sexgate" referring to the Lewinski scandal or "Nipplegate" referring to Janet Jackson's infamous "wardrobe malfunction"). Sure it isn't proper English, but knowing the openness to new words dictionary editors seem to have these days, that might change someday soon!

Conduct an English class if you wish, however, there are many listeners who
believe that Neil's show "jumped the shark" shortly after that infamous Super
Bowl halftime show.

Anyone who thinks that Neil's show is good, never heard him when he was a GOD! He was stripped, long ago, of his ability to do what he always did best...Entertain. The show he does now isn't even a shadow of the greatness it was in the 80's on Zeta or 90's on IOD. Quite frankly, the show he does now is an embarrassment. It makes me sad and even angry to see what they've made him. Do NOT compliment what he does now. It only shows your ignorance to what true greatness he once was.

For a million bucks a year he'd be happy to fart into an answering machine and call it a radio show. oh, wait, no more fart sounds. Yes, the show has been gutted by management but there was a time on QAM in the late 90s and early 2000s that he was the rawest guy on the scene.

Wow, you can't even say fart on this board. Do the Beasley's run this too?

I first started listening to Neil during the WINZ days with The Bird in the late 80's. He is one of the most talented radio hosts of our time. I would say he and Howard Stern are in a league of their own. The difference is, Howard was able to surround himself with talented people through the years that have really complimented his show. Howard without Robin, Fred, Artie, Jackie, Stuttering John ect.. would be a completely different show. IMHO Neil was at his best at Zeta with Capt. Dave and the Bird, and the early days on WIOD, where he was surrounded with some great talent. The show has not been the same at QAM. Jorge is a glorified board op and Boca Brian is over used. What ever happened to Guitar Man, Jim Schuyler, and production greats like Mitch Lewis and Scott Chappin? Jorge should be fired and Neil should be given a talented side-kick and production person, if there are any in South Florida any more. What ever happened to Mark Mosley?

I agree with most of what has been written in the above comments, however, I do not believe
that Neil has lost his edge or his ability to entertain. He has been neutered by management and the FCC. If you check the posts on the New York board pertaining to the decline in the skills of Dan Ingram, you cannot draw similar parallels to Neil. Critics claim that Ingram lacks the timing and spontaneous wit that he once possessed. Neil still has all of his faculties. It is
strictly a case of censorship.
If anyone told you that Jorge Rodriguez is a talkshow talent, he/she/or it is lying to you. Whether he is a good producer can be better answered by one of you. I am only a listener.
When you reference a better supporting cast on WIOD, I can only assume that you are alluding to the fact that almost everyone working for Cox contributed bits to his show. Jorge
was the only one in studio. Too bad Cox ever parted with IOD.
