When I first started listening to Neil, in 1992, his show was a breath of fresh air. He
was a brilliant talent, and the comedy bits from ACN and Rock Comedy Network were
superb. Guitarman contributed several great parodies, and Boca Brian occasionally
delivered a good bit. Ever since "Nipplegate" Neil has been over-censored by the legal
department of Beasley Broadcasting. He cannot use most of the off-color words that
you and I use in normal conversation. That negatively impacted his show. Also, the
comedy resources have changed, and he is far too dependent on Boca Brian. Boca has his moments, but they are few and far between. He certainly is no Guitarman. Too many of his musical parodies are of "Goodbye Norma Jean" and are mediocre at best. His comedy bits are too focused on Howard David and Steve Goldstein, and they
are yesterday's news. When Neil plays a Bob and Tom bit, you hear a distinct difference in quality. They are funny; Boca is not.
The only time that I believe the show became unlistenable was during the time leading up to the 2004 election. The anger and hatred toward Bush was a bit over the top, and I speak as one who refused to vote for either candidate. After the election, the
show reverted back to its old self. When Neil discusses pop culture, he is still a radio
genius. When he starts reading those hateful political articles, I switch to Colin Cowherd.
When the FCC gets its much-needed overhaul, and Neil can say a$$hole, ******bag,
and play those great fart, vomit, and belch sounds, the show will be back on track.
When he can play the old bits from the early and mid 90's, then The Neil Rogers Show
will be what it was, and that was the best radio talk show in America.
