Never knew you can have 4 HD's

HD radios are not all that readily available. I went to Best Buy and they had one HD mp3 / Ipod that you down load or something (the sales person saw a gray haired person and wasn't too interested in answering questions so I didn't learn much (and he didn't make the sale), but they didn't have just an HD radio, which is what I was looking for. Radio Shack had only one which had to be hooked up with a tuner, I believe ( it didn't appear to be self operating) they didn't have set up so you could hear HD stations. They expected you to buy it just seeing it setting on the shelf collecting dust. I asked about hearing it and the sales women looked at me like I was from the Moon, she didn't make the sale either. I haven't found any other stores in the Wilmington metro area that carries HD radios. So given my experience, I'd have to say that the future of HD radio isn't very bright, but online radio does have a future as almost everyone now has some sort of computer or lap top, etc. and with WIFI, etc, online radio is becoming more portable which is what needs to happen for it to really compete with terrestrial OTA radio.

Try the Insignia HD portable, its down to 39.99 at Best Buy next to the Concord Mall. For the price the sensitivity is fantastic, great reception, only problem no AM and the charge does not last long you have to use your PC to charge it of if you have a new car you can plug it into the adaptors they all have....but its very easy to operate and is a great buy...

Its a neat small unit...I was at the Concord Mall last week and WSTW-HD-1-2-3 was crystal clear and I received all the Philly HD-1-2's but that was outside inside the mall just the regular stereo signals were coming in...and at Christiana I received WDSD-HD-1-2 and WRDX-HD-1-2 and all the Philly HD's also so its a good unit pound for pound if you want a cheap way to listen to HD....and its better than my Zune HD portable so I would highly recommend it...

I'm sure even if all HD stations had 4 HDs, none of them would ever be aimed at my diverse tastes.

I prefer AOR, as in "All Over the Road". When you hear an HD station that segues from Cab Calloway to Earth Wind and Fire, then the Cramps, then King Khan or White Mystery, let me know.

Or anything else as diverse.....

HD radio may bring diverse programming to the 5 people with HD radios who can see the tower. It brings IBUZ and takes away other programming to everyone else.

Christiana Mall is a far throw from the antenna farm in Rox, and I cannot see WSTW's tower from South Philly but all these areas receive HD-2-3. I agree the HD-2 signals have to power up, in order to have more listeners...but HD is far from a bland idea...Also, I took my cousin to the dentist in Marlton, Phucas Dental, on the now defunct 70/73 circle, they had B-101-HD-2 on their system, they used to have the regular signal, now they have the 80's....so more and more offices and places of business will use HD not to spend Satellite fees and have commercial free good programming....Wait until Beautiful music arrives on HD-2's you will hear it all over the place....
