New 107 morning show

Ooo...heard it.

Mother always said, "If you don't have anything nice to say..."

Ditto---granted they're just starting out and it takes time to gel----I guess I expected more from people with their experience. I'll check back in in four weeks.

The new guy sounds like the new guy. He'll catch on to pronunciations, etc. I imagine. But the sensibilities of the market, not as cut and dried as learning to say Swoyersville.

Psycho Mike sounds like he's still at KRZ with that pukey fast talkin' thing he does where he equates loud with enthusiastic which I think sounded affected even when he was at KRZ. Now it's just flat out of place.

And Shania reads out of the newspaper and I don't even know if it was today's and says "Wow" after every other paragraph?

Hey, first show.

It never ceases to amaze me that, with so many seasoned LOCAL broadcast professionals out of work in the area, they go to another market to get a morning guy. I could name three or four people who are unemployed right now who could have done this for probably half what they're paying this guy and not sound like they're new at the whole thing. OTHER IDEA.....why didn't they just leave what they had in place??? It sounded perfectly fine.

These guys would be fine for 97.1... and I agree, much more creative and better talent already here in NE PA. But when has management ever made a smart programming choice in this area! Dull, broring, and omnipresent..

I was at a bar the other night and 107 was doing a night out. They were getting a lip full from several people at the event regarding the new morning show and the recent staff changes. They handled it well but you can tell it was very uncomfrtable for them.

well. gave them some time... and i'm still not hearing it.
Sounds like a train wreck! Sounds like being in the middle of an awkward conversation...

...A priest, a rabbi, and a duck walk into a bar...

To replace a morning show that was been on a radio for a long time is very hard to do. Give them some time.

1. I listened to this guys demo on tommygriffiths.com. He sounds just as bad there as he does on the air at ezx. So how does someone like that get hired?
2. According to various websites and boards, he was described as hard to work with and ego case..
3. Other articles talked about him being suspened from work (thats always a good thing right)
4. He isn't very funny, he uses play ground humor and he is a horrible at segwaying between the music and bits (very sloppy)
5. He's been out of work for a year (that tells you he is in demand)
6. And he is has no local ties

So to the previuos poster, (give it time) Why? According to his website he is a 20 yr veteran. If you are going to bring in a guy shouldnt he be ready?

Advice to TS....cut your ties now.

And while I am on this board, I know it is off subject but what is up with the music? It sounds like an oldies station?

To repeat what I said earlier, what was wrong with what they had in place? It sounded just fine. Jay sounded like he was coming back into his own again and Eric & Duffy were good additions. If they felt the need to make a change why not bring in one of the dozens of radio pros in the area that are out of work?? At the very least they would be localized, not doing the whole "I'm new here, this place is weird" act.

I am going to tell you about a radio station over in Poughkeepise, NY were they hired a new morning show in 1997. The man had no local ties to the area. The station was the #1 in Poughkeepise, NY for a few years. In 2006 the man left the station and was rehired three years later. Every one has to give the the new morning show on ROCK107 time.

why should you give the show more time? what are they going to do in the future that they are not doing now ?

Exactly what I think, this guy is a 20yr veteran and can't even get simple mechanics straight. At first I thought maybe he was the funny guy at his last job but after hearing the show and his demo he is neither the straight guy or the funny guy. I bet his old partner is glad he is gone.

If you give it more time the guy will know the area. You have to give the man a break. He is new to the station and new to the area.

What happened to Shila???? Did they already give her the boot???

Yes what happened to Shila. I have not heard on the morning show? Is she doing other stuff at the station or did she get the boot already? You guys have to give the new morning guy a chance. He only stated back in July. Next July he will be on the morning show a year and every one will like him.
