New 107 morning show

No disrespect Roger, but are you the new morning show host? How many times are you going to tell us to give it a chance?...Seriously, why does a 20-year veteran need to be given a chance? Either you could do it or you can't, and if he can't, then why did they blow up something that worked for something that does not? It shouldn't matter where he is located, and that he's new to the area, either he can do a morning-show gig or he can't....And if every person who has heard it wasn't impressed when it began and still isn't impressed "since July" then maybe there is a reason for that....

Roger is not the Morning Host...but he probably should be. Hell, they could put Bob Neilsen in that spot and it would be a great improvement. If this guy is a 20 year radio vet from Va Beach, then I am headed to Va Beach to do radio. I am sick of the NEPA weather.

I want every to know that. I do not work in radio but I have radio in the blood and love reading the discussion boards. Thanks NEPA_radiobored. No radio station will put me on the air brcause I am learning disable and I also have a speech problem. I do not work because of my health and my disability. To keep my mind going I like reading the discussion boards.

This is what I see what is going on here. Rock 107 had a long time running morning show. A morning show host jumps ship and goes on another stations morning show. Rock 107 put a new morning show on but I think they had a plan to hire a new morning show host. That morning show team was just filling in until they got the new morning show host. Now the new morning show host comes to the area in July. Every one does not like the new guy because.

a: People do not know him.

b: He does not know the area.

c: The new morning show does not sound like the old one.

d: People want the old morning show back.

Roger, I think most of us who have been in radio can be a little hard on posters.. our assumption is that any post is coming from a radio professional and we tend to be a little harsh on ourselves. This is certainly not fair to you, since you're only voicing an opinion and that is your right. That said, I think we expect (maybe demand) that new talent who come into our area be ready to roll from day one. Our market size may not be what it once was, but we are sometimes used as a stepping stone for bigger and better things. So, new talent in our area should be both prepared and seasoned professionals. If they jummped to the next bigger fishpond, they would find that their period of transition would be far less that we afford.. and it's either sink or swim.. you don't get a year to become acceptable.I hope this helps, and thanks for your comments and opinions!

I have been doing morning radio for about 10 years from market 47 to market 6 and here is what I see. First off you cant throw 3 people who don't really know each other in a room and expect radio gold. Morning radio is all about chemistry and one person can really ruin everything. Getting rid of Shila was the right move but not the last move I see some changes coming that can make a huge difference. So I am going to give the show a little time and see if they bring in some new people if not then the show is not going anywhere and will be gone within 18 months. But after listening to some of the areas other shows I can see the market is PRIME for someone to OWN the city. Now I understand what people are saying about simple transition from music to content etc. but if someone has been the second voice for 20 years it is hard to be the first voice as simple as it sounds. I an a number 2 voice so i can understand. It just feels weird when your job has always been to react and now your leading. The show is not great now thats for sure but I know tommys work ethic and if the station puts the right people around him everything will change.

18 months?!? Not even Shamrock is that slow on the trigger.

So let me see if I understand. They hire a guy who's been out of work for a year (in demand much?) to be the number one guy then they have to hire a bunch of new people who, if a miracle occurs and they have chemistry, will then be okay?

Own the city is laughable. The market (Shamrock in particular) will never pay a personality who can transcend the demographic sensibilities. Face it, the station plays what is on the verge of if not already, plain and simple, old man music. It's three years away from safely being referred to as MOYL. It's oldies for former weed enthusiasts. And they're like Korean war veterans. They won't last forever and even now are starting to fade. The format, every bit as much as the weak, weak morning show is the drawback.

Guess management got the message...the New Morning Show will at least stop the barrage of feedback that the owners were probably taking on the chin from the community. They probably couldn't walk down Penn Ave without some yelling "fix the morning show."
