New 93.3 morning show

WLS back in their Larry Lujack-Tommy Edwards- John Landecker- Bob Sirott heyday of the 70's played the number one song every 70 minutes. You could set your clock by it.

I'm not saying I like it, I'm just telling you how it IS.

And while you may not like hearing Stefani a couple hours apart, ever notice how teens will listen to the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over?

Odds are KISS could play the latest hit every hour and not lose listeners...

Like I said, I don't like it, it would drive me crazy to work in that kind of format. Which is why I don't...

But that doesn't make the programming philosophies and rationales behind those decisions wrong.

For anybody with an ounce of programming ability, it's childs play to examine your cume, examine your average TSL, and build a clock to play your "hits" as often as possible...And it doesn't matter if you're playing CHR, classic rock, alternative or polka music...The concepts are the same...and all it takes is rudimentary skills as a program director to understand it...

Which is why so many people here don't...

..and why those who criticize them, are far from understanding programming as well.

My favorite blog entry: HUMVEE CRASHING: The art of crashing an R/C humvee into the wall during an important meeting.

I would SO LOVE to do that! ;)

For an outsider in the industry could Robert Bass possibly explain what TSL means along with a
library format? I think that is what he referred to in an earlier post.

Thanks!

TSL = Time Spent Listening to any given radio station, per week, usually meaasured in hours per week by Arbitron.

"Library format" is another term for music stations that focus on oldies / older music.
