NEW AM OLDIES STATION????

At the very least, they would have to drop Clark Howard once the move in is complete.

Then again, the new owners of the Lithia Springs station may go with an entirely different format. After all, WBIT out of Adel, Ga. moved into the Atlanta market as what is now WMLB-1690 with its weird eclectic format.

1) Change the calls to something where three of the four call letters are W-L-S
2) Gather up all the WLS jingle packages you can and put them on the air.
3) Have some fun while waiting for the first cease and desist letter either from Jonathan Wolfert or ABC radio.

Anyone else notice the frequency swap from 1000 to 890?

The FCC no longer issues three-letter calls. The rare exception was when the KHJ calls were re-granted to an AM station in L.A., now Spanish, because "KKHJ" in Spanish sounded vulgar.

Some of you people take life too seriously. It was a joke, satire, your basic ha-ha funny.

I can't remember the details, but didn't WLSS in Sarasota do something like this (but with news-talk)?

also, KKLS in Rapid City used to buy the same packages.. Double-K L-S...

I think it would be huge with Atlanta's large relocated Midwestern population. There are probably more native Midwesterners there than native Southerners! The Big 89 lives again. Cool!

I think it was Grant Spaulding Dodge but the memory still brings a smile on my face. But seriously, the only way this frequency will survive is by super serving Lithia Springs assuming there is enough revenue to pay the bills. Beyond that it's pay for pray or infomercials.

There is no way a daytimer can survive in a tight Atlanta metro, especially playing music. Even if you were able to channel the spirits of Skinny Bobby Harper and Dr. Don Rose along with a marketing campaign costing more than the fair market value of the signal, you'd still fail.

I'm not even going to try and figure out how they are going to maintain a second site for critical hours. Somebody must have lots of money to maintain a hobby.

I think the Lithia Springs CP is held by Art Sutton. Art frequents this board....maybe he can tell us the plans.
My guess is it is for sell....
Whoever ends up with it.....it will have a pretty decent signal(by Atlanta standards)I think it can locate at WAOK site(just inside 285)

Uh-uh. Go look (www.mrnorms.com). I'll play Mopar trivia with ya anytime :):) I even got a '65 Dart wagon in the garage now I'm rehabbing.

We're just trying to get the station transmitter site finalized and ready to turn on the air. It looks like we might even be able to bump the power up a little..possibly 10KW non DA.

Right now our 5KW on 890 gets about the same daytime coverage as the 30KW proposed for WAOK. Our limit toward Atlanta's center is 920 and 860. 920 more than 860. Had 920 stayed at 5KW, we could have made it to 640 WGST's towers.

Hurry up--I want to hear some oldies on AM like the old stations of the bygone era of radio.
Just let the signal cover better than 1160 at 50K... ??? ;D :-*

It would be AWESOME to be able to hear oldies again even if it's on AM. C-QUAM AM Stereo would make it sound even better! (I have almost a dozen AM Stereo receivers). I doubt IBOC would be an option due to the 860 & 920 adjacents plus the fact that the IBOC would have to be shut off at sunset.

Is your company going to operate the station or will you sell?
Need a contract engineer?
