NEW BREAKAWAY BOX

Well not long before the official showing of the new product. What is all that buzz about??.Could it be maybe some test files are already out? My Oh My........

Just discovered something pretty cool about the current Breakaway Broadcast software. As there's no equalizer as such in BBP, I placed an ART 355 stereo 31 band EQ in front of it, expecting that I'd be pretty limited in what could be done without introducing ducking & holes in the audio. BBP never stops amazing me. As a torture test, I pushed +12db at 40, 50 & 63 hz and +12db at 8khz, 10khz & 12.5khz. The AGC didn't get blown away by all the excessive EQ! It's like it knew to pass it through to the multiband limiters which of course showed more gain reduction. I still say if the new box is even a little better than the existing BBP, Katie bar the door.

You'll be waiting by the kitchen door in the moonlight when you hear it. I'm serious about it when I said there's something in it that seems like it's been HALF of the missing equation in broadcast audio processing. A technique I've personally been using in my own mastering for the last 5 years, but completely automated VERY well, and I've actually been using it on some recent masters in part of my chain. =) It also has HUGE potential for the HiFi and even general purpose end user markets.

Between that idea though, and the mastering version of Leif's clipper (mastering guys, this one is going to BLOW YOU AWAY too), I've been doing really awesome with my mastering lately. I was even personally approached by Nicki Minaj to master her album, but since her boss was still in jail at the time, they decided to stick with their current mastering engineer. I think I could still pull off a platinum album for my wall this year.

Just had the first "glimp" of the new breakaway hardware box down at the processing freakday (they are building up the stands and are testing some equipment)... tomorrow we'll hear it and next weak the first samples will be placed on our website!

I'm really looking forward to the accounts from Freakday! This should be fun :)

The new breakaway box was just announced. I know of one "regular" on these boards who is going to have a heart attack when he finds out who is making the hardware...

I just *knew* you'd be the first to announce it Oldies. A few weeks back you were so mad at Omnia about a certain video that you vowed to never buy another Omnia product again. Too bad. I think you would have really loved the Omnia.9.

Well,i still stand by my statement. The 9 won't change that. But i am happy for leif.Omnia needed something to replace the aging 5 and 6 so this was a good fit.Looking forward to the new BBP software.

Well if you recall i started this thread.I was privey to info i could not share. The video came along in the mean time and that realy put the flames i ever had for omnia out.Sorry, that's just the way it is.Have fun and keep rockin....

How cool is this! It really says something about Omnia that Leif would choose to partner with them, I think. If this thing is as killer as everything I have heard, it should really put a lot of people on their ear!

I assume it will be at NAB - does anyone know for certain? Any word about price?

Interesting. I thought the icon on the Breakaway Hardware looked similiar to the Omnia icon (red "O"). I had hoped Leif was going to form his own company, without partnering. More competition keeps things interesting.

As for NAB, Leif said some time ago that, yes, it would be there. I don't know whether that is still the plan.

You don't know Leif and Corny well enough then. ;)

Of course it is.

Hey Jesse-

One of the Breakaway forum members reports the new box will be released this summer at around $10,000 (I think he's talking US currency). Accurate?

I'm not privy to that information yet. From what I understand Frank Foti was in attendance, so if it was heard there from Leif or Frank or Corny, it's probably accurate. ;D

Here's something else to eyeball... http://i.imgur.com/hhfkm.png

The "missing half" I've been on about lately. ;)
