I wonder whether one would find the Marian Trace Alpha plugged into the MB ;D
I understand Marian makes some DSP stuff for the major hitters, but using a consumer level sound card could spell disaster in harsh environments.

The photo is of the current prototype. The final version will look like that, unless the powers that be decide to change the front panel. I'm just not telling you who the powers that be are yet.

And back to the thread, I look forward to hearing the hardware box! The software is pretty impressive, it holds its own against the 11 I have here right now. The only downside, and what do I really expect for $299, is that it isn't very "tweakable". I'm sure that was done so people who don't live in this stuff don't get into trouble. I'm hoping every single parameter of the hardware box is brought out front. I can make the Omnia sound any way I want with all the controls, from open to dense, bright to warm, or neutral. Hopefully the same will hold for Leif's new hardware.

NEW software on the way,too.Will have some controls to play with.New box will be ready for prime time and fully functional .But it's nice to know a $299.00 software holds it's own against a 10k box like the 11.Buy the software,Marian Trace Alpha card and decent computer.You will be in business.Your listeners will never know the difference.
So, if a station isn't monitoring off-air, would there be ANY advantage to using the Breakaway Broadcast ASIO version for 100 more dollars opposed to the standard Breakaway Broadcast version? Are there some processing advantages in the software to not use the ASIO?
Has anyone on here used Breakaway for AM? I might have a use for that too. I have an AM that's still running a Texar Eagle. LOL! What sound card SHOULD I use for AM to prevent too many problems with RF in the building, etc. that's compatible? Will I still need an NRSC-2 filter? It indicates no filters should be used past Breakaway, but I just wonder if they've taken the whole NRSC-2 into account as it's only (unfortuantly for us) a US thing.
Breakaway Broadcast has an output filter setting that includes 9.0 and 10.0 khz options (and many others). If the filter is as sharp as the 16.0khz filter that literally falls off the map immediately above 16khz, it should be NRSC compliant with ease at the 9.0khz setting. Listening to a de-emphasized FM monitor, switching between 9khz and 16khz reduces the high end but not to a day vs night degree. Unlike the Optimod 9100 that is so revered in AM circles, BBP does NOT make the audio sound raspy or strident from the monitor. This may well sound pretty sweet on AM. I wouldn't put this on any station...AM or FM...without a DC coupled sound card, with the Marian Trace Alpha being the most available model.
From what I understand, the ASIO version was made to see how close to perfect BBP could be without substantial delay. Personally, I don't think BBP ASIO sounds as good as the basic version...especially on dry male voice. My opinion. If it were me, I'd use the $199 version if off air monitoring is not needed.

Actually there is more important difference between ASIO version and regular BBP then just latency.
BBP is full phase linear and BA Asio is not phase linear at Lowest Latency.
However, in box should be this BA Asio version of lowest latency processing.
