New call letters on 97.5

Has anyone noticed that WNUW was mentioned on the Greater Media site. Plus the calls are not being used at the current point.

Though those call letters aren't being used (yet), the FCC call sign website is showing that the WNUW call letters were reserved September 5 by Greater Philadelphia Radio Inc. So it looks like WNUW may indeed be the winner....

This is gonna sound really funny since we've been talking about how much call letters don't matter... But WNUW? For some reason, I hate it.

If you're a male, you're not supposed to like it in the first place... ;D

But those calls actually serve a dual purpose - remember how before the switch, you heard liners promising "something new (NU) and something now"?

Thats what JR the Consultant is all about...getting it right the first time ;)

They've been IDing as WNUW all week. I think they became official sometime around Sunday or Monday.

I'm amazed how long this thread is. Regardless of what calls they use, is there a reason to still have even the slightest interest in this station?

Another possibility would be W N A U, which would reflect the Philadelphia accent, of un-rounded vowel sounds. Philly folks say " NAU" not "NOW". Why else was Norristown's station WNAR...for Narristown.

Philly folks don't say "NAU" either.

I think you'd need 10 letter call-signs for WNEEEEEEEW.
