did anyone else see the Northeast Radio Watch report of Blueberry broadcasting changing the calls of Silent 101.1 WLEK to WTUX ? How long before ellsworth and downeast maine get to rock out to a third WTOS signal ?
musicman75 said:actually WLEK was on air last summer from a site in or near Machias, I heard it, it operated at limited power. It was around that time that blueberry applied for a CP to move the signal from a Machias licensed class B, to a class b1 licensed to Gloudsboro. I agree that they moved it so they could put it on the WLKE tower, so if that is the case, why apply for a call letter change if they weren't ready to actually do something with the signal.
musicman75 said:The calls for 96.7 boothbay harbor are WTQX, again i ask the question, if they weren't going to put WTOS on 101.1 sometime soon, why bother changing calls and why call it WTUX ??

musicman75 said:I will happily take AC/dc, metallica, and godsmack over and over with the chance of something new now and again, instead of the 20 beatles, stones, and journey songs that i'm hearin now with the chance of hearing nothing new. There is a lot of cross over been I 95 and NSX.
ray ting said:musicman75: Yeah, you will LOVE listening to 'TOS play the same 250 songs over. And over. And over. Okay, maybe a slight exaggeration, but close. New radio stations are like new girlfriends. Tell me how excited you are about either after a month or two.
rjoc: Through the grapevine, I hear that a new antenna that will handle both of the frequencies is going on the tower. The present WLKE antenna is indeed 12 bays, but it's half-wave spaced, which puts out a gain roughly equivalent to a 6 bay full-wave spaced antenna. I'm going to wager that we'll see a new 8 bay full-wave spaced antenna on that stick to handle both WLKE and WTUX. Who knows when, though. This is broadcasting.
rjoc said:Thanks for the update.....speaking of which, I heard them last night (Friday June 4) on 101.1 in stereo off and on between 7 and 8PM indeed re-broadcasting WTOS, which I also can pick up well here on MDI. Sounds like they were just testing though, lost of dead air in-between, but steady carrier..Didn't stick around for top-of-the-hour ID. Not my kind of music, sorry.
