New Calls/Format For 105.5 Cape May Court House?

But, with the incumbent WAYV in house, one wonders why they didn't play into their heritage and jump to maybe an Adult Top 40, keep the Buzz sisters as a rhythmic to counter balance AYV and keep a hold on the younger demos (read: those with disposable income and no brand loyalty).

Now, the thing would be to keep WAYV as a Hot AC with Kiss as the youngster Top 40. But, some observers point out that its AYV digging into the rhythmic and mainstream Top 40 vaults...AT THE EXPENSE of 99.3.

Personally, I think the heritage of WAYV keeps it from being swatted around by SoJo 104.9. Even in 2008, when you think Jersey Shore, you think WAYV...

3 quick points: First its so true about the Buzz and the avertising...it reminds me of BOSS 97 in the late 80s and early 90s.Everyone listened to it They killed everyone in the ratings but none of the "big" guys advertised with them... 2nd WAYV does get away with much to much because of their "heritage station" label. When I was on th air there we were playing 35 minutes of commercials pr hour in the summer months...35?!? 3rd I think I need to explain my "dance station "theory.I didn't mean pure dance...I meant dance leaning.

Here are 2 sample hours:

September Cry For You
Florida In The Ayer
Enur Calabria
DJ Laz Move Shake Drop
Neyo Closer
Lil wayne Lollipop
Duffy Mercy
Miley Cyrus See You Again
Lil Suzy Take me In Your Arms
David Guetta Love Is Gone
4 Minutes Madonna JT
Lasgo Something

hour 2
Bleeding Love Leonna Lewis Moto Remix
Forever Chris Brown
GiGi Diagostino I'll fly with You
Lolli Lolli 3 6 Mafia
Cassie Me and You
Cascada What Hurts The Most
Party People Nelly

oops I wasn't done

Stevie B Spring Love
Damaged Danity Kane
American Boy Estelle f. Kayne West
Don't Stop The Music Rihanna

My point a CHR without the rock leaning tracks with all current dance thats at top 40 with a surprise here and there and the gold to be freestyle and "known" dance tracks

I was just on the Ocean City boardwalk. One store had the Shark on,one had WAYV on, one Had FPG on.12 had Serius radio on with there dance station on...(i counted because I got curious after I entered the 4th different store with dance on).

I'm not saying a dance station would or wouldn't work at the shore, but consider this:

(1) You CAN NOT make a multi-million dollar BUSINESS decision on what 15 stores on the boardwalk have on. If you program to the $.99 stores and the $4.99 t'shirt stores, those are the advertisers you will get. Thousands of people every year attend concerts by the Ocean City Pops at the Music Pier -- should a station play their music full time?

(2) February isn't a big party month at the shore. What do you do in the winter when all of the boardwalk stores are closed and all of the boardwalk walkers have disappeared?

(3) Radio is not cool to the people partying at the night clubs at Borgata every weekend. Are you going to do a remote with roll banner duct taped to the wall and give out bumperstickers?

(4) Between WAYV, SoJo, Q107, and The Buzz, another CHR-kinda station would be a tough sell.

You've already hit the nail on the head. If you want dance music, pay $13/month for it.

Only cheap stations use duct tape. AC is becoming a year round party town. Philly has no nightlife and people are coming down from NYC to AC all week long. If AC got a dance friendly CHR, the labels would support it with world known djs and artists performing. Notice I didnt say a dance station.

Can someone give a reason why the #1 station in South Jersey would change formats? even if the new format is not much different than the previous. Seems as if Equity Is making this station lean to it's previous rhythmic format.

Ya know what? this is kinda what 99.3 is close to now. I just never thought the Buzz would be flipped to it. Question for those in the area. I no longer live in NJ. Is 105.5 still a repeater of 99.3 or did it change to something else?

One quick question, when Boss 97 was burning down the house like you say, were they using the rinky dink tower off of 55 or the flamethrower in Petersburg....

I'm the current keeper of the "flamethrower" as you call it on Route 50 in Corbin City.
It was built in 1991 I think ... Boss 97 had a couple of good books, but never set
the world on fire. They went into deep debt and the owner, Wintersrun Communications
dumped it cheap. It isn't a big enough "flamethrower" to make much impact in
Atlantic City, since it's only one channel away from 96.9, WFPG, which wipes it
out in many of the areas it needs to be heard to get ratings. It's a perfect
complement to New Jersey 101.5, since it does cover a huge chunk of population.

Is 105.5 still a repeater of 99.3 or did it change to something else?

I was down in Sea Isle the last few days and on Saturday night when I turned on 105.5 there was nothing but dead air....105.7 WCHR-FM was blasting down the shore like a local while 105.5 was off......I did check back the next day and it was back on but the signal seemed weak and the audio was terrible....But to answer your question yes 105.5 is still simulcasting 99.3 but they never mention the signal......I also never heard a legal ID.

Also a quick note. During the commercial break on 99.3 they had an Equity Communications stop set (like employment opprtunities and all the the equal oppurtunity employer stuff) and they listed every station they own by call letters and they stated that 105.5 was WGBZ....Isn't it about time they update that since they have been WSNQ since January?

I am down here in Cape May this weekend and 105.5 WSNQ still sounds terrible....The audio is just as bad as I last heard it in July, the RDS is off, and their signal is getting beat up by WDKZ in Salisbury......Usually WSNQ covers this whole area with a crystal clear signal even during heavy tropo conditions....I can't see anyone listening to this station for long periods of time with audio like this.
