New FM in Evergreen WPPG 101.1

Yep he sold it to Hale (or whoever Hale represents) but he missed owning a radio station and bought this one. He has no desire to buy the AM.

I managed both the AM and the FM for a short time when it was at 93.3. The AM never stayed on the air. It had an old Harris solid state "module" transmitter. It was always snapping cards. Then, we finally got the tower back up. It was knocked down by a tractor. It was a simulcast.. then we changed it to Westwood one "Groovin' Oldies"
then ABC gospel. The Digilink and console was in a closet in the hallway at the old studio. Then the transmitter finally died. RIP WIJK :)

Has the license for WIJK been deleted, or does it have authority to be silent/dark?

Also, were you there when 93.3 was WIJK and aired an AC format as "The Pulse", or is that before your time?

No the FM was country. The AM when it was on the air was gospel them Jammin' Oldies. Now I think it is Adult Standards.

The AM Cannot afford to stay on the air due to Mr Wolfe being the mayor of Evergreen he is also in charge of the Electric in the town of Evergreen and has jacked up the electric rate for the AM to over $1.00 per kilowatt hour so it cost us around $3,500.00 a month for electric service of which you have to buy from the City of Evergreen that is the only choice that we have here I am working to try to move the station out of Evergreen since there is no business here that is not owned by Mr Wolfe or his son.

He also sells spots for so cheap that you cannot make any money in this town he wants to run and own everything here while everyone else does not make anything.

due to the Electric Service Rates here we have taken the AM silent to avoid paying the crazy rates that they charge here while we work out a way to move the AM to a real city that would want radio.

I don't think anyone is allowed to charge those kinds of electric rates. I would contact the Alabama Public Service Commission in Montgomery. They regulate the electric rates in the state. Where I live, just south of Birmingham we pay around 12 cents per kilowatt hour. Contact the PSC !

The City is not regulated by the PSC they are a City and by law can charge whatever they want that is what the PSC Public Service Commision told me.

City owned Utility service is exempt from there control.
