According to Scott Fybush (subscription) http://www.fybush.com/nerw-20130708/Crawford Broadcasting will begin an LMA of WDCD-AM 1540 from DRDJ to air a God and Country talk format later this month .Oh Joy
Gregg said:What is DRDJ? I guess a "God and Country" Religious format makes sense since the owners don't want to simply simulcast the FM station.
It may be a waste of a 50,000 watt station but better than turning it off. As has been said before, the land may be more valuable than the signal, which despite the full time full power authorization, still doesn't cover the market.
And yes, I worked there many years ago.

My Typo it should read DJRA Broadcasting, owned by Don Crawford Jr. I don't know if they are related.

You're assuming that they are running at full power. With the high cost of electricity in NY, who knows what they're actually putting out.
There were rumors of 1540 running at half power or less, for years.
I believe that anything below 90% of licensed power requires the STA. I could be wrong on this. Too many rules....MHVRadiofan said:jry said:Channel Surf said:Nothing like broadcasting 50,000 watts of dead air all day long.....Quite the operation over there....

Aren't broadcasters required to operate at full licensed power without an STA reduced power? The average listener probably can’t tell the difference.
Savage said:No, you're correct. You have to operate with 90% to 105% of licensed power. And of course the directional pattern has to be within licensed parameters. Unless these conditions are true, you have to file for (and be granted) an STA. Not that everyone observes those rules......
I know "certain AM stations" - yes, owned by major broadcasters - who have operated with daytime power and pattern for years. YEARS. :![]()
ChuckRoast said:Getting back to the original subject of this thread WDCD AM 1540 has separated from the FM simulcast to broadcast a mix of turn or burn gospel and far right conservative talk. I like to remind these folks that Jesus and the Bible teachings are far more liberal than conservative but their minds are made up.
