New Format in Montgomery - KOOL 957!

I may have misunderstood Edge's post, but my understanding was that Alex FM wouldn't be affected by Kool 95.7, since their income was coming from clients in West Alabama, whereas Q96.1 would be affected since both the prospective clients are in the same coverage area, and since the formats of Q and Kool are similiar...

I'm not going to respond to your post.

...BUT I'LL SAY THIS IN CLOSING, ALEX FM IS A LEGEND IN THE RADIO BUSINESS. THEY'VE BEEN VERY ESTABLISHED FOR YEARS NOW.

EVEN WHEN THEY DID TOP 40, THIS STATION WAS MILES AHEAD OF EVERYONE ELSE.

BESIDES THAT, THIS STATION HAS BEEN DOING SOME SPOTS FOR BUSINESSES IN THE GUMP AREA, SINCE THEY UPGRADED TO 50,000 WATTS BACK IN 1988.

YEESCH! GROW UP AND GET A SPINE.

I'LL DEFEND ALEX FM , WMRK TALK AND Q 96.1 FM TILL THEY CEASE FROM EXISTING. EVEN IF THEY DO CHANGE THEIR FORMAT, I'LL DEFEND THEIR RIGHT TO DO IT AND TAKE UP FOR THE PRESENTATION. I LOVE THOSE THREE STATIONS AND LIKE THE WAY THEY DELIVER THEMSELVES.

SORRY FOR THE CAPITAL LETTERS BUT I HAD TO GET THAT OFF MY CHEST.

Now l can move on and be happy again.

P.S. Still love your presentation of programming Mr. slfalboy, WMRK Talk Radio and ALEX FM. It's awesome indeed. ;)

If I'm not mistaken those personalities are Dial Global, satellite delivered. Not sure about the morning talent though.

Correct on the dial global and i cant figure out the morning guy either he must be local he was there for the previous format.

In a matter of time the new will wear off Kool 95.7 FM.

When it does, then we'll see if they can keep this current format going.

Me thinks they'll be forced to switch their format, by sometime next year.

Just my two cents.

I wasn't going to say anything, but this post can't be ignored. I think you're becoming a little unhinged, RDP--calm down.

Thanks man!  I needed that.

And yes I'll continue to stick up for those who are professionals at their craft.

This does include Bluewater and Alexander Broadcasting.

These are some illogical posts...there is enough business in Montgomery for everyone.. Let the listeners be the judge....If Q96 is the "cash cow" that Peters says on his post, and if KOOL takes away some of the Q96 billing, it won't hurt Bluewater much, only a little bit. A little bit won't hurt, since Peters says they have "money in the bank."

There's no telling, Dothan Radio.

P.S. Keep up the good work Bluewater and Alexander Broadcasting.  Still like your presentation.  I'm impressed with it. ;)

I'm still new, but is R.D.P and Florida Boy Rick Peters?

To the guy about 95.1 being the only rocker and me smoking something crazy, well it is. It's Classic Rock. It's the only rock station in the MSA.

I agree with the other post. Ok, we have 2 classic hit stations. Its not ratings, but billing's that will tell the tale. Geeeze. If billings were the guide, well, the cash cow would be king. So ratings dont matter

No!

I've been posting on here, for many years now.

P.S. The reason why I've been so passionate on this post, is because I love radio broadcasting.  Once worked in it from 1996 to 2003.  Enjoyed the stint I had and would love to make a comeback.  I'm still working on it.  Hope it'll soon happen.  Till then, I'm going to keep on writing for God, seek His will and see where He leads me.

I respect that RDP>. I hope you get back into your true love.

American Family Radio Affiliate WAQU 91.1 FM Selma.

I told the listeners where they could send in their contributions if they wanted to help keep us on the air.

I also read some from the Bible too.

Once they upgraded and moved to Uniontown, my gig ended.

P.S. Next time you visit the Faith Rescue Mission Store in Montgomery and Prattville, you can get some my writings. (Bible Tracts for now) (They'll be the big ones sitting at the front of each store)  If they're out, rest assured, they'll be getting more.

B.T.W. Thanks for your response.  I appreciate it!

Nope!

It's R(obert) D(aniel) P(resley) Former announcer from WAQU Radio and 15 year legend in the Gospel writing business.

P.S. Thanks for trying anyway.

REALLY? This warmed over Q clone is a total waste of a frequency. Just what we need a syndicated Q with no local news, personalities, or identity. Canned jocks and the same ol' crap music over and over. Did this market really need more Doobie Brothers and Fleetwood Mac? They had a 1.8 share with r&b oldies. You really think they are gonna beat that with this cheap ass clone? Nope. That translator should have been used to expand the format choices in Montgomery. Jazz, blues, AAA, True Oldies, even Spanish - how about liberal talk against that right wing WMRK? Just one persons opinion.

Once the new wears off, then we'll see if they have "The Balls" to keep this format going.

Me thinks that by years end, they'll be switching over to something else.

Just my two cents.

I didn't have to wait and see if they had "The Balls" to keep this format.

The Classic Hits format was short lived.

I knew it wouldn't last long.

According to b5's awesome web site the new format at WRBZ is (Drumroll please) Mexican.

For more details on this change visit: http://montgomerytvandradio.com/2011/03/18/wapz-now-kool-95-71250-classic-hits/#comment-2753

I find this change to be simply amazing indeed.

Looks like Q 96.1 and ALEX FM won't have anything to worry about any longer.

You go Bluewater and Alexander Broadcasting.  Your stations still are the toast of the town.

The Spanish programming has been on these calls since before Soul Classics.....KOOL is an international word my friend! ;-)

Streaming the station at 11:37 pm on a Monday night--still oldies, still Kool 95-7.

I guess this means they've still got "The Balls". Which is statistically better than WOOF 560, which only manages to have "The Ball".

You go, R.D.P. Back to the shallow end of the pool.
