New Houston area LPFMs

Yeah I made my way out there. They mentioned KWFM, KRLY, & KHGF. Started getting some static about .9 miles away. It actually stayed the dominate station about 8 miles out with a max range of 14 miles. Not bad if you don’t mind random static or Spanish music breaking in. Audio seemed a bit lower especially compared to La Mejor. They also didn’t have any RDS

One further thought on KRLY-LP: With KOER-LP 101.5 now cancelled, KRLY should consider applying to move to 101.5 to avoid the interference from K283CH.
They would end up fighting with KLJJ-LP

KRLY on 101.5 would be slightly farther from KLJJ than KOER was. The KLJJ signal is faint to nonexistent in that part of NW Harris County. Easier to hear K268CW (KHCB translator) which is very weak.

Where I was driving I was only hearing KLJJ-LP on 101.5. That was very weak. No sign of the translator

KLJJ is surprisingly strong for 95 watts at 90 feet. It'll stop on a "scan" on the tuner here in my home office in Willis/Conroe area... the full-power signals on the KPFT tower won't even do that here.

The four bay antenna helps. Wonder how common that is for LPFMs?

Interesting sidelight: The KLJJ antenna is mounted on what used to be the STL tower for the old KJOJ 106.9 back in the 1980s. At that time the building was pretty much all by itself, surrounded by forest. Now it is just part of the Montgomery County urban sprawl.
