New K 104.7 line up....

Kent Dorsey said:
a post on their website about the death of T-Bone of Hall & Oates, was from an "apparant heart attck"... oh well, they spelled heart right anyway...

My bad.... I can spell. Typing? That's another story. Gotta slow down a bit and spend more time proof reading.

Thanks for pointing it out. All fixed now. :)

Lite isn't the best AC, but they sound so much better than K104.7. The imaging, jingles, and air talent are so much better. Music is pretty much on par.

And what AC doesn't play "Brick House?" You must not know much about the format. It's a staple.

I honestly feel that somebody in Charlotte is going to launch a upscale Oldies / Classic Hits station in Charlotte and it should be great. K104 has a very boring sound that produces huge revenues. You do the math and see if they will make any changes. Just about the same at Lite.

Lately Lite has been playing some great currents....which is long overdue for either of the AC stations here. I am friends with jocks on both stations so I will not get in to a pissing contest here regarding talent or expertise...I will say hats off to Lite for taking a step toward modern. it does sound really good.

I agree. I really like how Lite stays up on the currents (please, though, ditch the Rihanna, thanks) and still has room for a few 70s and a few 80s songs each hour as well. Great variety.

The consultant does matter though. He does the music logs and sets up the formatics you hear. I don't know the man but I'm not a big fan of his.

I am not a fan of ANY consultant. Consultants and Clear Channel are what has ruined this business. Station owners and managers should listen to what thier listeners and advertisers say.

Just saying......

With the exception of Christmas music in late November and December, Has there been a day that 104.7 doesn't play Margaritaville? I believe this goes back to the Star days as well.

I know how K-104.7 has sounded during the day and that wouldn't have fit.

Holly, who do we have to talk to, pay off etc in order to get you back on the air? This station if you call it that is such a joke. Can someone please tell me who's actually running the show over there. Is it CBS New York or the out dated PD? My guess it's the same PD they've had for years. It's known through the Charlotte area he's one of the worst PD's...he's clueless. Ok, back to Holly. You've been missed, we need you back on the air. The morning guy they have...Jo Jo, BORING...Come-on, most of his jokes comments have all been used one time or another in radio. Mandon, he's to inexperienced for a 24 market share station. At this stage Mandon’s best fit for a 100 or even a 125 market share, he still has a lot to learn. Kate, OMG where did they find this dead beat? flat, flat, flat....has zero personality, she's be better off doing books on CD. Bailey the weekend girl...Now there's someone who sounds great. If someone would let her just be herself and not a "card reader"...WOW, there's some talent. That should sum it up in a nut shell. They are all truly boring, nothing's original anymore sounds more like "scripted" radio than a personality station...One who was just perfect for that station....Tom Jeffries, now that was a man of talent. I always thought the two of you would have became a morning show "Tom & Holly in the morning"

Holly, K104.7 needs you back, Charlotte needs you back, we all need you back

I really wish I knew who some of you were (well only the people that boost my ego like this..the other haters, not so much ;)) Seriously, you would think I paid you to write that, a million thanks.
If I knew how to get back on the air, I would have done so...but it is out of my hands and the listeners have zero pull. K has had the same PD since Tom Jeffries stepped down and my momma taught me not to say something if it wasn't nice...so with that said I won't start a radio critic review here.
I am actually doing commercial production around Charlotte (even with Clear Channel although I am on "inactive status" with CBS), but of course voicing a commercial is not the same as talking the real talk on the air. There is a void in my life, not gonna lie to you...but like I said, it is out of my hands.

Thanks once again for the ego boost and all the kind words.

Soon Charlotte will have their Haze back, it just takes time. Maybe if they replace the PD with one who actually understands radio, what the listeners want, what the advertisers want Charlotte may have their Haze. It’s sad to know, you’ve been in this industry for so long, those in Charlotte know you, your voice your talent yet the ones with the big pay-checks trying to save his/her back side would rather cut out pure talent…makes zero sense.

We miss you Holly and know you’ll be back on the Charlotte air-waves soon

Have any of you heard Magic 98.9 (AC) in Greenville in the past 6 months? Pip-squeak PD that programs the CHR also came in and ruined it. Yanked the 70s music and plays tons of tired 2000s AC songs and 90s songs.

It makes K104.7 sound like radio station of the year.

May have been trained by the same Pip-squeak PM at 104.7...Holly should be the PD, she has more experience and understanding of radio....You up for it Holly? Look at it this way, you'd be a PD who actually knows how to do an air-shift.. ;)

Please be careful what you ask for. . . A PD who can do an air shift? The world would come to an end!!!!!

That would be like having a manager who actually understood the programming aspect of radio and understands that a really successful operation has a good mix of emphasis on both programming and advertising. Neither will last long without the other.

Oh hell ya I'd be up for it...but I would not be able to tolerate the rest of the BS that comes with it!! Remember, I started in radio before the corporate industry got their hands on it...you know, when radio was inventive and real????

I tell jokes? LOL! Now THAT is FUNNY!

;-)

Nick Allen, PD at WLYT does PM drive, Jeff Kent PD at WRFX does mid days and Jack Daniel PD of WEND does afternoons.

What does 104.7's PD do...? Let's see: Does he do an air shift...? NO, Does he understand programming...? NO, Do he understand radio....? NO.....The funny part, he's paid to do nothing and for knowing nothing.

I vote for Holly as the new PD. Who's in?
