New Midday show on 105.3 The Fan

Yes Jagger lost an hour and now goes off at 8:45. He must see the hadwriting on the wall. Man, The Fan and the management of The Fan really sucks. :-*

A buddy inside 105.3 tells me they're also looking to hire Randy Myers ("The Nasty Boy", formerly of The Ticket and ESPN) as their producer. He used to work with The Goodfellas show over at ESPN and is good friends with both hosts. From what everyone knows of the guy, it's a terrible choice for producer, but just another Gavin Spittle mistake. He's also one of three finalists for the APD position, as well. What's happening at The Fan?

Exactly, I totally agree! But you won't have to worry about it, the way I hear it is Shaun Dodge from ESPN (Galloway) is the front runner for both positions. Tired of being passed over and dealing with Pete Dits he is ready to make the jump like Mark Freedman did from the Ticket. Should be a good fit.

what? and give up the maverick drum line with a little one on the way? Sure why not? Stability is required when becoming a parent.

Word gets around fast, doesn't it?

[EDIT]

I had to sign up for an account here solely to defend my position and my name. I don't know who "ISaidSo" may be, but I don't appreciate the incorrect comments about my job at ESPN and my relationship with management. While signing up, I see that someone else has decided to bring up another job of mine and make mention of my family.

I am VERY happy in my position here at 103.3 FM. I've grown up with the station and am good friends with all levels of management. I owe every bit of where I am today to the education and faith instilled into me by my radio mentors over the past 7 years. I'll echo what has been said by all in Bristol in that Pete Dits is one of the best in the business. It bothers me that someone would take my name, spout off some nonsense and then have the gall to infer that I have any issue with the station, our management or my position with ESPN Radio. At no point have I ever mentioned being "tired of being passed over" while in my role here.

My name is Shaun Dodge and I will post here only under my real name. If anyone has an issue with me, my career, my family or my outside work, I'd hope you'd be brave enough to do the same and not hide under your Internet moniker.

That all being said, do not bring up my name again in regards to ridiculous rumors or hearsay. I'm sure Mark Friedman would ask for the same.

[EDIT-off topic]

wow, shaun. bold response. But, who cares? Fact is, radio management is terrible. I couldn't care less about your "relationship with management". Pete Dits is no better than than David Henry, Brian Purdy or "insert manager here". I have no doubt that your name IS being thrown around in the halls of The Fan. That is because Spittle lacks skill and has no imagination, he will keep recycling "sports" hosts until he gets lucky or finally gets canned trying.

Shaun, you should know, coming on to a message board to defend your virtue is fine. But when Pete Dits or whatever other radio manager is done with you (or other talent) or finds the next new thing, you will be gone.

As I have read this site from time to time, I have never signed on until today. I read the comments from idiggraves and Board Monkey regarding my leaving CBS, and wanted to say thanks for the nice comments. Regarding my leaving: I spent 14 days short of 10 years with CBS, at the same station, and I witnessed 3 different formats, and for that tenure I feel blessed. Through-out my career, I would say the most satisfying part was to hire, train, and help motivate the employees I worked around. As the people that know me, they also know nobody worked for me....but rather we worked together to achieve the desired product, and any success I may have received was only because of the folks that were around me. So my hats off to them, and the management at CBS, and my best wishes in their endeavor in an ever-changing, and very challenging business. Thanks, Lee D. Harris

Lee-
You are a standup guy and responsible for helping me land my first job in radio out of college. Not because you knew who I was or knew my parents or grandparents, but because you took the time to return my call when I was eager to start working. You spent some quality time with me in conversation and quickly realized LIVE would not be a good spot for me, but didn't give up on finding a fit for me in this market. Thank you!

I've worked in radio since 1986 and worked for some really good people and for a couple fools along the way. Lee hired me in 2003 at Live and I've been there since. Now, there is only one point I will disagree with Lee on and that is we did work for him. Maybe not in the traditional sense, but he always encouraged, challenged and complimented me and others. So you always wanted to work at your best because of and for Lee. 23 years in the business and I'VE learned from him. More importantly, Lee treats you with respect and no small amount of humor. I also count him as a friend. If you've had a chance to work with or for Lee, you take your choice, you were a better person for it. The one thing I'll miss at the station is him coming up to me and saying "C'mon buddy, let's go smoke. You're not doing anything."

Lee, you are a stand up guy. And a class act. You always have been. Gavin didn't deserve you. The benefit for us flys on the wall, we get to watch him try to do it by himself.

Did someone call my name?

So does this latest move by The Fan make it even LESS likely they will be the new home of the Cowboys broadcasts? One might assume KRLD-AM airs Rangers on weekends to avoid the NASCAR conflict (as reported by Barry Horn) but that still poses a conflict to Cowboys games on Sundays. And Nolan Ryan kept talking about "baseball on FM" but the words "baseball in stereo" were never mentioned. Will 105.3 turn off it's stsreo pilot to reduce multipath and extend its reach? Will NASCAR have to be relegated to Jack or KLUV. What about all the weeknight Cowboys programming? Will Ron Chapman jump to the rescue and bring Cowboys over to WBAP?

Stay tuned for answers to these questions...and more. The Fly On The Wall has RETURNED!!!

105.3 is awful... Even Jagger sux and I used to L-O-V-E that show. Now it has been cut back to nothing... and here is a question... Why do you need Dildo Mike doing "Extreme Sports" when Chris S. comes on with with the "REAL" Sportsflash??? Like little1 pointed out... ratings are worse now then when P&K and RMS were on the air -- why doesn't someone realize the Gavin and David Henry are clueless???? Again, Thank you XM!

Lee, its good to see you post a response. I hope all is well with you and you family. Thank you for hiring me back when you did. I know Gavin was the final word but you did the interview. I had a lot of fun at KLLI. Miss those days. Take care and maybe you can poke your head in from time to time. Cheers buddy.

Nick its good to see some of the "Alternative Talk Station" folks posting. Your absolutely right about Lee. I guess those that were fortunate to work with him will only know that.

In the Fan's defense, you usually have to destroy something before you can rebuild it. (Except for Steve Austin, there, if you have the technology, they can rebuild him)

They have/had to run off all the P&K and RMS fans, and hope in the future to draw off enough disgruntled Ticket/ESPN listeners to let them survive...

If the Fan were to get the Cowboys, the potential conflict would be 3-4 baseball games on Sundays during the regular season. We don't have to worry about playoff baseball messing with the Cowboys gameday presentations.

Rangers are on during the summer on 105.3 on weekdays.

Weekends still are on 1080

And Nascar is staying right where it is for now.

Down with The Fan, Up with Live.

I listened to Scruggs and what's his name for a while this week and I didn't hate it. It really wasn't bad, but not good enough to make me purposely tune in. However, ocassionally I'll still listen to Jagger, and after his show, before I hook up my IPOD for the rest of the day, I'll listen to Scott and Hill for a while. GREG SCOTT IS UNLISTENABLE. God He's AWFUL on the radio, and I'll probably never hear anything on 105.3 after Jagger again.

Looking at the Rangers schedule, there are only 14 day games during weekdays, so not that many schedule changes. If they were broadcasting the Cubs, that would be different.

I'm pretty sure when they said "weekday" games they meant weekNIGHT games, too.

I think they should have made that clearer.
