New Mojo 100.3 Comming

This was easy to call! I wonder if it'll ever sound as good as Mojo 949 though! I doubt they'll lose listeners from this, if anything, gain. Look for The Wiz to add more R&B ballads to their Urban format.

I started lisitng to WGRR after the flip of the original Mojo then Move to Rewind when they started playing more todays musicn I moved back to WGRR. and Now the new Mojo for good. I have loved every song so far they have played.Yhey got a listener out of me and I am only 32 and love this music.

Smart move for R1. They're gonna be able to share listeners with quite a few stations in this market. Rewind, The Wiz (in the same building), WGRR for starters. I think this will really help their PPM, especially if they keep the commercial load low and the music rollin'. They're doing 100 hours commercial free right now. It does sound more Urban-leaning than a typical rhythmic oldies station which I hope changes and they throw in some Madonna and disco-oriented stuff to sound like the old Mojo. They probably don't wanna lose their old urban ac listeners though. Although, they did play Tone Loc and Queen. Look out Rewind!

I could see Rewind flip if this takes off and does really well.

Now I wouldn't go that far! Rewind is doing excellent in PPM and cume as well. It's beating Warm 98 still and although it has fell off since its launch, it still has a lot of power. What could they flip to that would do better numbers than Rewind? Mainstream AC? Not gonna work. Rhythmic AC? Maybe since they've already built an audience. I wouldn't expect Mojo to do ridiculous numbers like the old Mojo did. I don't think it's going to sound AS good and the signal is good, but definitely not as good as that 94.9 stick. I do think Rewind could sound a lot better, for example, Thanksgiving weekend with the upbeat black friday playlist, that is when Rewind sounded good. Upbeat and rhythmic ac-sounding. Now, they're back to boring 80s like Rewind Columbus with a few AC recurrents thrown in. Can't hate on what Patti has setup though!

I'm hearing that a lot of former Mojo listeners are not happy with the change from Urban AC to Jammin Oldies. Look at the comments on the Mojocincy website. The station just cracked the top 10 on the latest PPM also. It will be interesting to see if this move will work out and bring in more listeners from Rewind or WGRR or not. So far there is none of the old jingles or imaging that made the old 94.9 what is was.

They lied said they would not play Luther Vandross and they did: Luther Vandross - Superstar / Until You Come (That's What I'm Gonna Do) at 11:19pm

It sounds kinda solid gold-ish, but I think it'll work out over time. Mojo 100.3 was a pretty good Urban AC, but neither that nor The Wiz are making any noise in Cinci. WROU in Dayton is probably doing the best ratings-wise for an Urban AC in the state of Ohio. Mainly current, plays R&B jams mixed with with some classics... it works very well since Hot 1029 is very rhythmic these days. I think that Mojo will do fine though... but it won't get the old Mojo numbers unless programmed right.

Re: New Mojo 100.3 Coming

Don't mind me...I love the old Mojo when it was on 94.9...Now it's on 100.3. If they kept true to the old Mojo 94.9 type playlist, it will do better than the Urban AC.

Back when Mojo was under Susquehanna on 94-9 they played Another One Bites The Dust from Queen, they played that this morning at 8am on the NEW Mojo. Look for WGRR to be a high 4 share,
WREW will be a High 3, and The New Mojo a low 4 share to mid 4 Share. It will all shake out by the Febuary trend. Mojo should do
TV to promote the change in product.

Overall though, the new Mojo playlist just isn't as impressive to me.
Not trying to be mean or anything, LJO, but you have to be patient with playlists...I remember you said how small the playlist was on Gen X Radio in Columbus when they first started as well. Radio stations do this for a reason. Even when Z-93 launched WAAAAY back in 1984, they got complaint calls from people who thought they should be playing 10,093 DIFFERENT songs instead of repeating most of them. I think starting with a small playlist and getting an audience to sample your new product is a good move. Start out small and go from there. No need to have a 1,000 song playlist at launch time. They have plenty of time to work in some Madonna and some of the other stuff you had mentioned. ;D

And Gen X still does have a small playlist, lol. I agree though, start off small, just really hope to hear a better variety over time!
I do agree that Gen X has a small playlist. They also go too far outside the 90s sometimes("SexyBack" played on Sunday morning and that was a hit in '06). There are so many good songs that they don't play, but something must be clicking since they're getting a 4 share on a not-so-great signal.
We'll see what happens with WMOJ. I'm willing to bet their playlist will be heavy on repetition for the first few weeks.

I don't mean hearing Sexyback. It fits the sound. They just need to expand their imaging and 90s playlist. The one in Louisville sounds great especially imaging wise.

This station will not have nearly the audience the old Mojo had.
#1. This station has a terrible signal, and it's not even a well known frequency in the market.
#2. The programming and imaging will have to vastly improve to even get started.
#3. It will lose a large amount of its current audience and will basically be starting all over
#4. The old Mojo died over 4 years ago and people have moved on

I don't think this station will have any effect on WGRR or Rewind at all.
