New Mojo 100.3 Comming

Let's evaluate this:

1. The signal is definitely not well known. Wasn't it a new frequency when it launched Mojo? I know it can be picked up near Dayton at times but with my HD Radio, Classic Country blocks it up. Maybe it's better going south.

2. 150% agree on this one.

3. I don't think it'll lose all of its audience because it's not like it flipped from urban ac to country. It still shares a portion of its playlist with the old Mojo. Although, the stunt could've hurt them.

4. With marketing, they can win people back, but I think a lot of folks have forgotten about the old Jammin' Oldies Mojo 94-9. This could be a problem for them. They'll have to really promote. JAMMIN OLDIES IS BACK IN CINCI... etc. etc.

Will it hurt any stations? Maybe, maybe not. Depends if others find out about it and if they find it worth their time.

Hadn't really had too much time to reply since the switchover, but still wanted to get into the party. A few comments/observations:

Mojo '10 is sounding pretty decent, though I agree it seems like something's lacking. And I agree that the playlist the first few days seemed a little thin, though it seems like it's been expanding as the week has progressed. I am a little surprised that, given the timing of the switchover, they didn't just stunt with Urban Christmas then fully flip after Christmas.

With all the comparisons/statements about pulling audience from Rewind and WGRR, it's actually got me listening to those two stations more than I had in a long time (in the case of WGRR, probably ever). I realize this is just a radio geek anecdote and probably not representative of the audience as a whole, but if it does carry over to the audience at large, Mojo could be in trouble.

That being said, I do expect Mojo to do decently enough. IMO, there's enough room in this market for a Classic Hits, an Adult Hits, and an old-school leaning Rhythmic AC to co-exist. And if Mojo does well, I don't really expect a full-on format flip from anyone (such as Rewind to Gen-X). But I could see Rewind actually start hedging more in that direction. Actually, they may be doing that already, or at least testing the waters--the last few times I've heard Rewind's Noon "Class Reunion Lunch," it's been '90s each time.

FWIW, I do think that if Clear Channel had been able to hold onto 94.1, it's very possible that we'd have seen 94.1 Gen-X Radio by now.

CC treated 94.1 like it was a misfit stepchild! It was horrible what they did to Mix 941, although it was rhythmic AC in its last days, and I rather have that than Frequency.
