"Take Me Home Tonight" (1986) wasn't a hit? Still gets played, fairly regularly, I might add.

Great...so he hasn't had a hit in 27 years. Way to make him seem more relevant.

I should point out by way of analogy that Jimmy Buffet hasn't had a hit in 36 years, and he has a HUGE following and a very successful concert career. There are many other examples of artists who made only a very brief splash on the hit music charts, yet continued very successful careers.

But Eddie Money is not one of them.

Actually, I have seen Eddie Money perform live twice over the past couple of years. Not even counting seeing him back in the '90s. I would definitely say that he has a successful career.

One thing that I have always liked about Eddie Money is that he seems like an "everyman," not some high-falutin' "rock star." He seems quite down to earth. It's also great that he is a big supporter of the troops.

You have to consider what the advertisement is selling when applying the music. Fleetwood Mac makes sense for a beer commercial because they are targeting older people. Beyonce would make no sense for a beer commercial considering the age group she appeals to most is probably not of legal drinking age.

It was not actually a commercial in the normal sense at all but rather an attempt (successful, it seems) to build brand affinity by teaming the familiar Clydesdale horses with the beer brand by touting a new arrival (colt named Hope) with her older cart pullers.

Jimmy Buffet still has an active chart career even if it's on the country charts. His 2003 duet with Alan Jackson "It's Five O'Clock Somehwere" spent 8 weeks at #1 on the country charts and did well on the Hot 100 and most recently his duet with the Zac Brown Band "Knee Deep" in 2011 also went to #1 on the country charts. Also his albums still sell well enough for him to debut in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 for years on end. And Margaritaville through his various ventures from it has also made Buffet enough money to retire but yet here he remains on the road because he has a loyal following.
