New Palin Show Finishes Last In Katz

http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/100732/new-palin-show-finishes-last-in-katz-survey

What??

Of eight first-run syndicated shows being pitched at NATPE in Miami Beach this week, a judge show featuring one-time GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is least appealing to viewers surveyed by Katz Television.

Only 21% of the respondents said that they would watch or might watch Palin Rules, which was developed by Larry Little, the producer who launched Judge Judy, and distributed by Barry Wallach and Lee Villas.

For the survey, Katz tested “awareness and interest” among 404 adults, 18 or older and geographically dispersed, via Ourmedia.com, Katz’s standing panel of TV viewers.

Scoring best in the survey were Mysteries of the Unexplained and Killer Mysteries. Sixty nine percent and 62% of the respondents, respectively, said they would watch or might watch those shows.

Both are 30-minute, straight barter shows distributed by Bellum.

Rounding out the eight were a talk show with former American Idol contestant Kelly Pickler (55%), which has been developed the E.W. Scripps station group; Impractical Jokers, an off-cable series from Trifecta; Dateline, a derivative of the NBC primetime true-crime series from NBCU (51%); a talk show with Drew Barrymore, from Warner Bros. (47%); and Couples Court: Cheaters on Trial, from MGM (22%).

Shows looking for clearances and a fall 2017 launch and not included in the survey:

Bold, a live half hour from Tegna and MGM that draws content from social media and uses social media to interact with viewers.

Funny You Should Ask, a game show from Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios.

Page Six TV and Top 30, news-based half hours from Twentieth Television. The former features the best of the Page Six gossip section of the New York Post.

I had no interest in Palin show or Top 30, Page Six TV sounds interesting I'm guessing Nexstar will pick it up as they own rights to a lot of entertainment shows mainly WOTV & WXSP. Bold will be on WZZM as that is TENGA station sounds to me like Right This Minute.

Sounds like Pickler and Barrymore may have a shot. The only thing that could hurt the two talkers is clearances and time slots

Yup clearances I think WB has pushed back Barrymore's talker until 2018 as only few station groups picked up on it one of them being Tribune.

do her fans even watch syndicated shows?

Kellie Pickler did a reality show for CMT, following life with her husband, who's a hit songwriter in Nashville. Don't know if the show was popular. Cable operates at a lower break-even point than syndication. The OP says she was an Idol contestant, but more importantly she was also a season winner from Dancing With The Stars on ABC. So they have the track record from those shows to work from.

IMO this is completely beneath the dignity of a former Governor.

Every bit as disappointing as former US Senator Fred Dalton Thompson pitching shady reverse mortgages.

She can't be beneath the dignity of a former Governor, because she never succeeded in that position, IMO. She was a sports anchor for Channel 11 in Anchorage. Somehow that got her elected mayor of a small Anchorage suburb. Then somehow elected governor of AK. And somehow that got her nominated as a VP candidate. Purely dismal all around. So am I surprised she is last in this "new show" category? Nope.

If you get yourself elected Governor, you should conduct yourself with some dignity.

Case closed.

With all due respect, case "not closed". She was literally a joke, as SNL decidedly pointed out. Yes, she was elected Governor, but of one of the smallest populated States in the country, with little background or experience. (sound familiar?)

She never conducted herself with any dignity. Don't forget her reality series after losing the election in 2008. And her brainless interviews on national tv during this period. She lost all of her dignity long ago, so this latest episode is hardly surprising.

so.......you're saying that Al Franken, a sitting US Senator, is entitled to conduct himself like a clown
because he used to be one on Saturday Night Live?

(for the record, I feel that he generally conducts himself with the proper decorum)

I don't think we really disagree on this, we are just saying it in different ways. Franken has taken his political career seriously. I never felt the same about Palin, but that is IMO. Palin came across as a joke from the outset, and I never thought she was qualified for anything other than what she ended up doing, reality and possible talk shows. Even Trump put her out there once or twice, but that ended pretty quickly.
