Now let's look at the ACTUAL facts.
1360 WSAI is not a waste. It's doing what it should be. CC needs a FOX Sports affiliate, and 1360 is a fine fit. Don't even start with the Oldies, Local Talk, etc... That's not going to work. Why? For the same reason a standalone Oldies station on 1480 isn't working. For the same reason 1530 WSAI didn't work. It doesn't pay for itself, and there's a better fit with something that can be used in combo buys. There seems to be this myth that if you put some great music and some local talent on a marginal AM or FM signal, that somehow adds up to a winner. It doesn't.
The FAN will NOT make a spot for itself if they continue as they are. Nobody even knows this station exists. Radio One is way past the point of doing some outdoor and some real TV. Not cable. Real TV. Being more local only works if you have the right talent. They have two guys who should be working together. The rest are not well known or even interesting to listen to.
They CANNOT outflank Clear Channel. Here are the five biggest reasons:
1. Reds
2. Bengals
3. UC
4. Xavier
5. UK
You also seem to keep forgetting that the biggest "sports" station in town is 700 WLW. Just try competing with that on a marginal FM signal (which 100.3 is) with marginal talent and no leadership or marketing. Good Luck.
Not only do you have to look at the listeners lost since this format flip, but also the revenue lost. This station may not be a great signal, but it's already proven that it can cume close to a quarter of a million people. This sports format is cuming 30,000 at most. Why do you want to waste your time on a format that isn't showing ANY signs of life?
