Really Nathan? I'd like a return to 80s styled hard rock and metal. I think if you look in Pryor Oklahoma this weekend, you'd see a pretty good sized contingent that want that as well. I also saw a sold out Blossom recently for Iron Maiden, and I'm traveling to Chicago for a sold out Judas Priest/Black Sabbath (Heaven & Hell) show next month. Motley Crue recently sold about 100k of their new record in a time when no one is buying music, and I believe Judas Priest sold around that many as well recently.
The reason alt rock and metal went down the tubes is because people stopped wanting to be barraged with complaint rock. Gas prices, economy, war - it's bad enough without being beat up by it every time you turn on the radio as well. There's a reason a band that was dead and gone like Buckcherry can come back and sell a million records in a dead industry on the strength of a song about a good lay...because it's fun and takes your mind off how bad the real world is right now!
Bring on the 80s rock once again!
