new rock lives in neworleans again!!!!!

I would like to see 104.1 become the Hornets flagship station (since they were on 99.5) since 1280's coverage sucks after the sun sets. Hornets have no strong AMs in their radio network. It was always a challenge to listen to a game when driving from NOLA to Lafayette (until I switched to sirius)

I didn't listen much today, but has anyone else heard the old KHEV commercial? I forgot what it was for, but it had a personality from the old format plugging something to do with KHEV.

e: Rebirth of ROCK 92.3

With 104.1 playing new rock and Bayou going strictly classic rock, look for the rebirth of ROCK 92.3, with the WCKW call letters.
Also, look for Tommy Tucker to team up with his old sidekick Dave Butz and go heads up with Walton and Johnson.
ie. Jay Hooks will also be Butz and Tucker's news sidekick as well.

Speculation or fact?

Lil Timmy Tubber supposedly inked a three year contract to fill-in and host the Stink Tank. Not that the corporate paper it's written on is worth anything and aren't ones to honor what they sign. Nobody wants to work with him because he's a control & money freak that flies off the handle.

start a new thread. what the hell are you talking about? who is a control and money freak? are you talking about tommy tucker and the think tank with garland on wwl? let's talk about 104.1. great, predictable boring mid 90's classic alternative????????????
black hole sun into heart shaped box into collective soul all day. kill me! I agree with the fella who always praises xm and sirius. i finally had a long time with sirius. it's awesome. no question about it the content, choices, and programs are superior to corporate radio with the exception of news/talk/sports. fm music channels are terrible. 104.1 signal weak. cc will mess it up. watch. i'm thinking sirius for myself for xmas. or i'll bring more cd's to the car.

X 104 is just fine. Far less boring than 104.1 and they still throw in the 90s classics. CC is doing another format of the month on 104 and I question giving up gospel for new rock. I don't see KNXX losing any sleep over this. It's a snooze. Now if they'd program something interesting like classic country or AAA on the signal, perhaps they could make a go of it. But it's CC, so I don't suppose that will happen.

From what I've been reading about another HALLELUJAH blowup in the south, CC flipped it to rock also with a median year being 1997 with "2 or 3 new tracks and hour" .. This is pretty much what 104.1 is now (except I would shove it back about 1996 for the NOLA version IMO).

Aim is Men 18-44 Up in Birmingham (Alabama) and doing a new and 90s alternative.. this would be pretty much right for 104.1's main demo apparently.

104 the X tries more for about 13-25 as you can tell it's more true alternative (compared to most alternative stations on the gulf coast) and I agree with Jimmy James on not expecting to loose any sleep, but at the same time, I wouldn't expect too much more ratings out of 104 the x because of it, as older new rock fans do get put off by some of the heavier leaning alternative leaning tracks on 104 the x.

On the classic country and AAA, I'd leave Citadel a way to (blank) it up....
Cause we have three signals in 2 towns that are under performing.... 104.1's tower mate 92.3 I think needs a new format and maybe a go of AAA could be a difference... (But actually I would expect Martini on the northshore to segue to that more than 92.3 flip formats to it)

I never have understood why these owners don’t think outside their narrow box of formats (well maybe I do). AAA was just mentioned and that would be my preferred format of choice if done well, not sure the large corporate suits and their consultants could do it as a startup.

Take KGSR in Austin, they do well, but they have a good PD (Jody Denberg) who was left alone by Emmis since it is successful when Emmis bought them from Ladybird Johnson. The music still matters and they still have live jocks hand-playing CDs day and night! I believe KGSR and/or the AAA format done well represents evolved mature AOR/Rock radio without having gotten frozen in time and turned into a robot like what happened to WRNO.

Why can’t there be stations in this area like KGSR? Does it take a unique leader/PD? Is it only possible in a place like Austin? Or, is it just the short-sighted suits that can’t think past the next quarter that prevent it from happening?
