New Russ Martin Details

What Happened
"engaged in a verbal altercation that turned physical. She advised that Martin physically assaulted her and displayed a pistol during the altercation."

The charge as listed from WFAA
"he was served with an arrest warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing bodily injury."

It doesn't say he moved a womans nose to her ear with the butt end of a pistol. If the victim had a full day to come up with the most damning account and made a few phone calls, then yeah hey, include that he showed his gun and that turns things in a whole new direction.

Like several have said earlier, more often then not, when the cops are called, someone has to take a ride.

We don't know what happened. I have a buddy who needed medical attention because his chic went whacko, but he didn't restrain her, hit her, push her - nothing, except spend the night in jail...because she called the cops. The next time same thing only three days in the cell. The next time the cops figured out she was the whack job. Point being, innocent guys can be arrested and we don't have a clue.

Doing something and being accused of doing something are two entirely different things!

You have already made up your mind. If I accused (insert local media type person) of hitting my mom - does that make it true??

No it doesnt. But OJ was also found not guilty of murdering his wife and Ron Goldman but when you say the word OJ what do you first thing of.. his football career/his acting career - no it is the accusation of killing his wife.

Guilty or not - Russ will always be associated from now on with this accusation due to the nature of it

Read the arrest warrant. It's damning and he's toast.

Maybe, maybe not. There are several facts not seen here:

1) "Amy" is not very mature
2) Russ is not the most mature person either
3) "Amy" has provoked Russ before

Although I do not condone hitting a female unless for self defense, I can understand if Russ blew up over something "Amy" said or did. My (separated) wife would say or do things to me in order to try and provoke me into hitting her. I've literally seen red and had to walk away before I grabbed her and did something.

Not everybody can have the presence of mind to stop. "Amy" may have pushed him over the edge.

Oh my God. You are blaming a female for making a man "pull out her hair in chunks," "kick her," and destroy her personal property??? PLEASE tell me you are kidding.

You should be a lawyer! I am going to beat the snot out of my wife and get out of it by telling the judge that she's immature and "provoked" me! Damn woman is always jumping rope and sassing me. Christ wagons.

Its funny to see how quick some people are to BURN THE WITCH... so to speak. I am not a fan of RM. I think he is a HUGE TOOL who is over-rated, overpayed and over his 15 minutes. Believe it or not... I was once a fan. Then I had an encounter with him and my attitude changed.

However, known of us know the facts. All we are hearing or reading is SUPPOSEDLY etc...

What needs to happen here, is that he needs to be placed on paid leave immediately. Let all of this play out and then and only then...once the facts are out for everyone to see or atleast managment.... that is when a final decision should be made. If this comes down to being the other persons fault. They caused this and RM was put in a position that he had to defend himself... then he will be cleared and back on the air. However, if it's the opposite... then he is immediately fired. No second chance, no counseling, no rehab.

Just because he is a HUGE TOOL... doesn't mean he is guilty.

Thats simply my two cents.

obviously the jury of the russ haters already found him guilty even before all the facts were presented

I haven't posted anything on this topic...was wanting to see the police report. Sometimes these are he-said/she-said cases where it is hard to know what really happened. Based on the report, it doesn't look good for him since there is some physical evidence to assist her view (i.e. she is missing chunks of hair; no doubt bruises will/have appeared if she was thrown about the house). Clearly she presented something more than a story for them to decide to arrest him and refer it to the DA office.

I don't listen to his show (but I don't hate him...I just generally don't find any of the KLLI shows very entertaining; so I'm not in the pro- or anti-Russ club). Whether or not that is enough to convict someone is one thing...but you only have to free of opinion if your on a jury. Like it or not, regardless of what happens to the case, in the court of public opinion, some listeners will determine he's guilty and be done with him. So, he's got a tough problem. If he apologizes, it will be like admitting some sort of guilt, which won't be acceptable to most people. If he says nothing, only her side of the story will be in the media, which makes him look bad.

I am not a Russ hater I have been a loyal listener since his KEGL days.. I was just answering the original post that based on the released facts at the time of his post what my opinion was .. now that I have read the affidavit I stand by my answer .. whether he is innocent or guilty - the accusation and now with the affidavit unfortunately probably spells the end of Russ' career.

And if the IRS is investigating him and he is afraid he is going to lose his house and everything he owns -- my heart and prayers go out to him .. he has done so many good things like the Police and Fireman fund - getting the kid the bike a few years ago .. and to let this incident destroy everything he has done is sad ..

Domestic abuse is hardly a "little mistake". But I agree with the notion that this is unfortunate for the charity organizations. Hopefully someone within the immidiate organizations will assume the lead role, so that those operations may continue.

he's got no priors. how often does someone beat the hell out of a person the first time they do it? as a woman, i know how evil we can be. it's so easy for her to claim something because everyone will rush to her defense. if she's lying, she makes other women look bad. she would have a lot to gain by ruining him. if she's not lying, i feel for her.

No priors? So arrested for DWI isn't a prior?

You said "prior"... Not domestic abuse prior. Methinks there should have been some previous DA charges, given the evidence. Makes you wonder how many times he has actually assaulted Amy.

if she was a real woman, she would have reported the first time he did it and never stayed with him. i know it would have been hard, seeing the charmed life she was living, but shit, grow a pair. no amount of money or privilege is worth getting beat on.

Ahh but when it comes to love, logic can sometimes go to the wayside. This seems to be the normal pattern for DA victims... First deny there is a problem, because you love the abuser and believe it when he says he won't do it again. Then it does happen again, and the circle repeats itself. Sooner or later, the circle gets broken, but almost always long after the emotional damage is done.

sorry, any woman who can't stand up for herself and get out of a relationship like that is a coward. just because something is hard to do doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. but this is off topic.

i'm not about to write a guy off until i've heard the whole story. that's kinda the basis for the justice system in the country and i believe in it. the rest of you can continue to tear him down, but there are those of us (fans or not) who don't like that sort of thing. sorry, deal with us.
