he's got no priors. how often does someone beat the hell out of a person the first time they do it? as a woman, i know how evil we can be. it's so easy for her to claim something because everyone will rush to her defense. if she's lying, she makes other women look bad. she would have a lot to gain by ruining him. if she's not lying, i feel for her.

No priors? So arrested for DWI isn't a prior?

getting a dwi isn't the same as assualt, and you know that. blow a .09 when you get stopped and it's dwi.

You said "prior"... Not domestic abuse prior. Methinks there should have been some previous DA charges, given the evidence. Makes you wonder how many times he has actually assaulted Amy.

if she was a real woman, she would have reported the first time he did it and never stayed with him. i know it would have been hard, seeing the charmed life she was living, but shit, grow a pair. no amount of money or privilege is worth getting beat on.

Ahh but when it comes to love, logic can sometimes go to the wayside. This seems to be the normal pattern for DA victims... First deny there is a problem, because you love the abuser and believe it when he says he won't do it again. Then it does happen again, and the circle repeats itself. Sooner or later, the circle gets broken, but almost always long after the emotional damage is done.

sorry, any woman who can't stand up for herself and get out of a relationship like that is a coward. just because something is hard to do doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. but this is off topic.

i'm not about to write a guy off until i've heard the whole story. that's kinda the basis for the justice system in the country and i believe in it. the rest of you can continue to tear him down, but there are those of us (fans or not) who don't like that sort of thing. sorry, deal with us.

You're spinning your wheels here - he was guilty on this website LONG before any of this became public - true or not.

Read the affidavit and . . . geez. I had always hoped the a-hole thing was an act. Well, for the most part, anyway. Some of that can't be faked. With the evidence of her hair and bruises, it's not looking like an immature chick just wigging out.

CBS asked for this. They let him drink alcohol on the air. I know he exaggerates things on the air but geez...at least I thought he did. He has run other shows away from the station. Other on air personalities have had to put up with his crap. And look what it got them? He made money for the station so they looked the other way. He has lost his temper on the air numerous times. He has admitted to treating his girlfriend like crap on the air. I don't get why this surprises anyone. And Gavin, by kissing Russ' ass the way he has, may have kissed his career goodbye.

Ah more rumors with no facts to back them up served up only to further prove Mr. Martin guilty in the court of public opinion!

Yea - again - what is heard on the air MUST be true!!!

When I heard the news last night and learned that this occurred on Monday but he wasn't arrested until Friday, I tended to doubt the veracity of the story. BUT now that I have read the affidavit and understand that the delay was caused not by Amy but by the police investigation it sounds pretty damning.

I'll admit that I've become disenchanted with Russ' show over the past few years, but dang I really thought his violent stories were just bits. All his talk of throwing girlfriends down the stairs or banging their head into the dash [that visual actually never got old] or even the story about putting Amy in the dryer seemed like a bit. But in part of the affidavit it referenced that Amy knew enough to turn on the tape recorder because she knew from past experience that it would be bad when he came home so now I feel like I've taken part in the abuse by listening to him talk about things he's done and going along as though it were a joke.

I kind of feel sick to my stomach right now.

Having said that, I'm an independent woman and always have been and no man has ever laid a hand on me but I know that I would NEVER stand for it and remain with them to allow it to occur a second time [alghouth I can't agree with the poster who claimed that any woman that did wasn't a real woman]. I gather that Amy has had money issues and no doubt his was quite a draw but you just can't allow a cushy lifestyle to cloud good judgement. 'Course if the IRS leaves anything after the legal fees she'll have a nice civil suit that could set her up nicely for her near future.

I just thought it was a bit too.... But now I it makes me wonder if he really was that mean to her. During the winter months when Amy turned on the pool heater and Russ talked about how he screamed at her over the bill. I wonder what else he did to her and failed to mention on the radio. How sad...I guess he must be same jerk off the air as on the air....

I was wrong. I don't think this is a bit anymore. I just saw this posted on dallasnews.com.

I hope this guy is done.

At this point, the entire format on 105.3 is done.

Get ready for "105.3 The Wolf"...

Seems Fait Accompli at this point. I suspect the station has enough to get out of their contract with Russ regardless of what happens. P&K are gone by whomever's hand, and Jaegger has no listeners. At this point does it even qualify as a radio station?

By the way the IRS stuff will really hurt Russ in a jury trial. The fact that it is part of her statement and the impetus for all that happened means it will be almost impossible to exclude it from the case. Most people know not paying your taxes is a crime. Getting to a place where the IRS is going to take your house and everything you have is not something done lightly, and not something done unless you have done something pretty seriously wrong. This paints Russ off the bat as a bad and unscrupulous person which just makes the evidence and allegations seem all that much more plausible to a jury.

I am not listening anymore, but in discussing this with someone who turned it on today, they said they were playing a bit with Mark Cuban about the Mavs playoffs...like 5 years old. I think they are trying to air the pre-Amy tapes in realization that there are a lot of "bits" that aired now couild be used as evidence in court to substanate the charges.

I wonder how many miles of audio tape the prosecution will play of Russ documenting his attitude to woman. There's alot of audio documenting him being cruel to Amy and finding humor in bashing woman's heads in the car dash (even if it's just sound effects).

Has the REAL Russ Martin finally showed himself???

How could Russ ever go anywhere near this type of "humor" again???

I am disgusted.

He never should have gone there to begin with.

I don't think tapes from the show, presumably used in order to demonstrate character, will be admissable.
Like it or not, it's akin to playing a character on a TV show. Some elements of his real persona might come across, but much of the show is schtick, exaggeration and out-and-out theater.

On the flipside, I'm going to be terribly disappointed (sickened even) if the bits about "in the dryer," "down the stairs", etc. are revealed to have taken place when any real abuse was going on --- almost like Russ' own sick inside joke, or perhaps even an inside joke among the closest on the show. Again, I think he deserves to present his case, and I still believe there's A LOT more to this story.

Not that this means anything, but as I drove back to the office today I exit at Mockingbird off of 183, which drives me right past 105.3, as I pass I usually look into the parking lot to see who's cars are there or if I recognize anyone, and today I saw JD's big-A truck. Would JD still have to come in if they are for sure going to be airing best-of for however long??

Someone has to run the board? I haven't bothered listening, but if they do live traffic updates or whatever, they almost NEED a human there to run the board.
