Give them new folks at RNO some time. Even Banks sucked when he first came here from Oklahoma and look at him now...maybe that's a bad analogy.
 
Gerry V - no disrespect because I really enjoy listening to you on the radio, but, if you're doing PM Drive in a major market, I can't afford to give someone time to get their feet wet. If you can't hit the ground running, you shouldn't be on the air.

MightyNine - I'll give you another example. I was listening to Dennis Miller last night (Thursday) on my way home. When I turned the car on this morning the radio was on 99.5. What were Castner and Wallensky talking about? American Airlines cancelling flights. Now, I don't know where you live, but, the three things people are talking about today in my neck of the woods are

1). Derrick Shepherd's indictment

2). The Archdiocese closing churches

3). The opening of the Bonnet Carre Spillway

American Airlines cancelling flights probably wouldn't even make the top 10. If you're doing talk radio, you need to talk about what people are talking about. Inform and entertain. Castner and Wallensky and Osterlind don't do either.
 
Radio Buff ya make a good point.....i see where your coming from.......on saturdays 8-11 we talk about our life in the city and area( plus a national issue or two that we all can relate to ..i put my spin on it all...ie: resolution #4 the House wants amend the code tohave privacy partitions between urinals in mens bathrooms...( mama mia !)

PS : i still think you give the folks sometime to get rollin.......also free rolls and buns plus coffee for the show...doing it from a studio in Sactown cal..thats hip for Sacramento....jes ! someone just slap me !
 
Gerry, do what you have to do to get some numbers with care, but keep doing what you do best, and that's sports talk. During our very brief time together I was impressed with your knowledge and interraction with your callers. Don't get led down the path of political $hit, it's not what you do best. You're a pro V man. Don't let the dick take you somewhere you shouldn't go. Surviving this business is tough, but you have to stand your ground my man. There's a huge opening for what you do, and you're the one holding the corkscrew. Use it.
