New Shows Coming to Antenna TV

I read on Sitcoms Online that these shows are scheduled for Antenna TV this fall, was posted by a user that was pretty sure:

Leave it to Beaver
Dragnet (1968)
Alfred Hitchcock Presents
McHales Navy
Newsradio
The Nanny (returning to schedule after 2nd and 3rd quarter rest)
Adam 12
It Takes a Thief (Robert Wagner)
Jack Benny Show
Bachelor Father (John Forsythe)
Suspense Theater
S.W.A.T.

Most of these are NBCU shows that RTV lost a couple of months ago. Too bad they didn't get some of the NBCU dramas that RTV had (Marcus Welby, Emergency, etc).

I think it's great there's a channel that runs shows like these since TV Land has flown the coop. I only wish channels like this would do away with the practice of block programming and mix things up a bit.

TV Land has been running The Beav on weekend afternoons. Maybe they were just burning off their rights. It's not on this weekend. Hot in Cleveland is on 'Doh. That show really isn't bad but I like the old TV Land much better. ME-TV is coming to my town this week but no Antenna announced yet.

After last week, both LITB and Andy Griffith were removed from the weekend afternoons (and overall schedule). I forget what replaces them, Three's Company I think.

Same old dreck.

There were so many really great shows during the 50's yet we see so few of them.

it`s a good list of shows.

i look forward to it takes a thief.i have not seen it to the best of my recolection since 1972 or 1973.i watched it in high school when it was a new series. wow am i old.

It's basically the same list that has been presented on other public domain sub-channels for several years now.

You just made my point.

With Antenna TV hardly doing much turnover, IMO this is a welcome list, for the most part.

Do you mean these are public domain shows? Hardly, that I'm aware of.

I'm saying these shows are generally what's been playing for quite a while now on the sub-scammercial stations.

Given the number of scammercials on these subs I would think there would be enough programming money to air some of the less frequently programs from the Golden Age of TV.

how does a show that has not been seen in a city since 1973 prove your point?

Because I was agreeing with you that some of the old great shows which have not been seen in a long time should be programmed (instead of the old standby's like LITB, Wagon Train, Robin Hood, Cisco Kid and Gunsmoke/Marshall Dillon).

...WSNS/44 Chicago ran It Takes a Thief as late as 1980; clips from a home-recorded broadcast are up on YouTube and FuzzyMemories.com...

"Thief" ran recently on RTV, as did some shows on the OP's list, IIRC.

I think that some old TV shows have to run through the demographic test, just like certain oldies songs today. Some shows like LITB stand the test of time as far as favorites. Some shows, especially topical ones like "Laugh-in", wouldn't work today---"All in the Family" being a rare exception.

Most, if not all, of these shows come from the NBC Universal library, which is the one RTV lost the rights to last month.

I would like to see The Saint with Roger Moore..brought to you by the same folks that bring you Benny Hill>>

Now that is keeping it fresh. More new old shows there than Me-TV added in June.
Haven't seen anything about Me-TV changing shows this Fall.

So, is it safe to say maybe Antenna TV outbid RTV for the Universal library or
part of it?

gregg, I think RTV was too cheap to renew the catalog. I think Luken is satisfied paying for cheaper content on LPTV stations. Since ATV and MeTV are not interested in LPTV its all his haha ;)

MeTV has announced their fall additions and its big: Star Trek, Batman, Peter Gunn, Rifleman, Daniel Boone, Lost in space, Laurel and Hardy, Voyage to the bottom of the sea, Mission impossible, and more..... cant wait. :D
