You never thought they'd stoop that low? You must not remember the last regular morning show on 101.1. Russ and Dee? Not exactly politically unbiased.
what i said was that i never thought crawford would stoop to this level for one of his "christian" stations.
that said, i don't think this is what is needed in birmingham (or any other market for that matter). there are enough people pissed off in the world right now, why do we need it in our morning radio? it isn't because of social or moral concerns, it is for the money alone.
It's not a Christian station. It's always been a secular local talk station.
Yes, that's true. It's not a
Christian station (if you'll read the duncanalusa's post), he did say "christian" (with the quotation marks), so he never meant to imply that 101.1 (or any of Crawford's other stations) are christian stations. Although Crawford Broadcasting does have some stations with
christian programming, IMO Crawford Broadcasting is by no means
a christian broadcaster. It's a secular broadcasting company. Any person or group who claims to be a christian broadcaster and programs some of the formats Crawford Broadcasting does has an identity issue. If you don't believe me, just look at this poll that Crawford's station in Chicago, WPWX "Power 92" has on their website. Sorry if I violated the copyright on all of this (not trying to), but if it winds up getting deleted off this post, check it out for yourself.

Is Nas Right......is Hip Hop Really DEAD???
Hell Yes its Dead!!!
No Hip Hop is Alive & Well!
Its damn near dead but it can still be revived!!
Hip Hop sold out...its just pop music right now and its played out.
I'm a christian, and I'm not perfect myself, but I can't see how any Christian person or group would willingly endorse anything of this nature or play music that has explicit lyrics. Something just doesn't add up there. As Christians, we're supposed to glorify God, and I don't see how displaying that poll or playing music with explicit lyrics glorifies God in any way. I know Crawford Broadcasting originally began as a christian broadcaster (all of its stations up until 20 years or so ago were programming christian formats exclusively), but it seems those family members who've "inherited" the stations don't seem to have the same focus as those in years past.
I listen to WDJC very little. The programming is so-so to me, and they play way too many commercials. My wife has the same complaints about them, and so do a lot of people we've talked to...too much talking and the programming needs some tweaking; she says that WDJC should tell everyone on air that they have "long
commercial blocks with
limited music interruption".

I would say as a christian I would be much more willing to listen to WDJC. That's not the case, though. I usually listen to the non-commercial christian stations, instead, not necessarily because they're non-commercial. I just prefer the programming over that of WDJC.
From the looks of the downward ratings they're having on their stations here in Birmingham, I believe Crawford Broadcasting could spend their time more wisely trying to improve their stations than spending time quoting people on a radio board.
