New simulcast in Indy

Why does 950 air ESPN Programming instead of 1070. because thier no mention on ESPN Radio's website about 950 being an Espn station they have it listed as 1070. Did 1070 make a deal with WXLW 950?

IIRC, 1070 has first dibs on ESPN programming. If they choose not to carry it, then 950 is the back up.

They start the simulcast tomorrow. They are bragging about 950's better signal. They are re branding as Freedom 95. Heard it during Dave Ramsey today.

Heard that today as well. I knew the date in advance but had I revealed it, I would have had to issue a gag order to everyone on this board...so i kept my pie hole shut :)

They're running a rough edit of some of their old imaging, cutting "9" off of "95.9" and making it just "95". Makes sense with the am freq. being what it is.

WKUZ 95.9 in Wabash moved it's tower south of Wabash and increased their antenna height. I am guessing to get a stronger signal into Marion. See radio-locator map of WKUZ.

Doubt they have promotion money. Their main promotion vehicle is their own air. They'll be able to convert some low level listeners into listening more now that those people know they can pick the station up on more radios.

The real bummer is that Arbitron no longer shows non-subscriber station ratings so we may never know how successful it becomes.

They were giving a complete picture of the PPMs until several months ago. I don't recall where WFYI landed though.

That IS unfortunate because it was my understanding that the contemporary Christian music K-Love station at 101.9 FM was among the top 6 stations reaching women.

I never cease to be amazed at the number of people I cross paths with who listen to K-Love...K-Love is not a "religious station"...it's very much a mainstream station and the ratings were reflecting that before Arbitron took their cards off the table. Thanks for listening to Positive Encouraging K-Love.

Oh, but Brother Frenchman, I thought you didn't believe Arbitron. ;)

You're right, Bob. WKLU is not a "religious" station, it's a contemporary Christian music station where the on-air people freely talk about Jesus, they'll record & playback listeners' testimonies of what Jesus has done in their lives, the jock will share the Scripture verse of the day, they have contests & promotions and their on-air people are among the best in the business, Christian or secular. If K-Love were merely a religious station it wouldn't have nearly as many listeners. Mainstream? No. Contemporary Christian? Absolutely!
