New Sitcoms, what do you think

The only appointment viewing I have on the 4 Broadcast Networks are: Three Rivers on CBS (now that I saw one episode last week I want to watch it again), The Biggest Loser on NBC, and America's Most Wanted on FOX. Other than that I don't watch anything on the broadcast networks. The Simpsons have gone down hill the past few years. The reruns are better (and FOX 61 bounced those to 1130 & Midnite because of Dr. OZ) and Family Guy went downhill last year.

I could never understand the appeal of The Biggest Loser. Why would anyone want to watch topless fat people for 2 hours every week? It's kind of gross.

So they can say "Well at least I'm not as fat as him/her"

No kidding, I used to know a girl and she needed to lose about 25 pounds and she'd start a diet and then a week later go off of it and say to me, "Yeah I know but at least I'm not as fat as Whitney." Whitney was a girl in the office who had to weigh at least 250 pounds.

So it's a show where overweight people can says "Hey, at least I'm not THAT fat." :)

I agree with the last post the biggest loser is for those that can feel better seeing the people on that show,to me I think it totally is terrible.
Now back to Sitcom in my opinion as for all sitcoms here it is
1. Two and a half Men
2. Big Bang Theory
3. The Middle
4. How I Met Your Mother
5. Gary Unmarried
6. Modern Family
7. Old Christine
8. The Office
9. Hank
10. Community .
11. Til Death
12. 30 Rock
the following should be cancelled.
Parks and Recreation
Cougar Town
Accidently on Purpose
Did I leave any out besides the animated ones.

I forgot one which no one has mentioned, but it is a new sitcom on a broadcast network. "Brothers" stars Michael Strahan as a former NFL star. His brother is Daryl "Chill" Mitchell and his parents are CCH Pounder as a high school English teacher and principal, and Carl Weathers as the football coach and gym teacher.

I enjoy it.

Carl Weathers is almost unrecognizable; he's clean-shaven and bald...nothing like Apollo Creed. I watched a few episodes, and I thought it was OK, if not a little underwhelming. The Cleveland Show is another average-at-best program; I know a lot of people dislike it, some even calling it utter trash. I want to get into watching Modern Family, which I hear Ed O'Neill's character is somewhat similar to Al Bundy, but I'm normally watching either Inside the NFL, Law & Order: SVU, or a sporting event at that hour on Wednesday...I gotta catch the reruns.

The "Modern Family" character is nothing like Al Bundy except for being kind of a loser. He does look like him, but that's about it.

TV Guide has a page of letters from readers. This week I saw it in the grocery store and someone was complaining about "Hank", saying most of us would be happy with the life he now has.

Well, the person is missing the point. That's what makes it funny. He's been rich for so long he's forgotten what it's like to live lke the rest of us, and it's hilarious when he can't cope.

Although most of us wouldn't have to use a ladder to get to the second floor. When they said "widening" the steps I assumed that meant they'd remove the old railings and add to what was already there. I never imagined they'd take the old stairs out.

It sure was nice to see Charlie Robinson of "Night Court" again as one of the construction workers. I'd like to see him become a regular as Hank's fiasco turns into what the Douglases went through on "Green Acres".

"The Middle" is so enjoyable I believe it will become my favorite of the Wednesday night lineup.

"Modern Family" is getting better too.

As the season has progressed I'm less happy with some of my old favs.

" 2 1/2 Men" seems to have an infatuation with Chelsea. She is not nearly as funny as she was in her earlier episodes. She's lost her sense of humor. Other former GF's (such as dimwit Kandi) were much funnier. Also, Rose, Berta and Evelyn haven't been featured as much and all three are great comedy foils. Bummer.

"BBT" is getting much too geeky. Way over the top geeky. It was much better when it was a more generic comedy. Now you have to understand all that sci-fi BS to be able to understand the jokes. And Penny as Leonard's "friend with benefits"? Bummer!

"Desperate Housewives". Yeah, I know....but it is really a comedy and not a soap. What's with yet another "mysterious family" moving into Wisteria Lane? The last one added absolutely nothing to the show and this one is almost as immaterial. And Lynette is pregnant with twins? Like her cancer episode before it's not funny nor is it drama. Are the writers, or Marc Cherry, drinking again? And what's with psycho Delany's (Katherine) obsession with Mike the Plumber (and Susan's new husband)? If she lived in my neighborhood she'd be dead by now. And.....I miss Edi Britt. Bring her back. And get back to the black humor that made this show great (long long ago).

And the new crap:

Can't get excited about any of the new comedies - especially those on ABC Wednesday's. One or two laughs per episode doesn't cut it for me. ABC continues to be a giant waste of air time.

The premise on "Hank" is great, and Kelsey Grammer is a fave of mine, but I just can not take "comedies" where the kids act like total spoiled brats and insult the parent. Hank's wife isn't much better, so I gave up on it. His previous show "Back to You" was much funnier.
"Modern Family" has some real laugh out loud moments, and "The Middle" is very well written. But knowing ABC's track record, they won't give the good ones much time to catch on. As opposed to NBC, which will stick with a clunker like "Community" for what seems like forever.

Amazingly, I'm still enjoying it. Dana Delany has such great hair and a great smile and somehow this sort of thing is easy to take when it's her.

I don't care for the new family, but since they're making Susan miserable that's good for some laughs.

Edie can't come back. Mary Alice is already the narrator. Unless you do what was done in "Pet Sematary 2", which I finally got the courage to watch. No, even this show won't do that ...

I think it's Gabrielle that I'm enjoying the most, though the episode where Tom got drunk so Lynette could hide her pregnancy ... that was the best one in a long time.

"Accidentally on Purpose" was really good Monday. Jenna's hair looked so cute. It has only looked that way one other time but I like it better that way than sloppy like it usually is.

The only bad thing was her ex. Oh, and I still don't care for her friend that talks like Shrek.

I give the episode a 7. ;)

If you want to talk about "Desperate Housewives" I started a thread "It was a chimp, not a momnkey".
