New Spanish station on WNWV-2?

It was brought to my attention that there is a new Spanish language music format on WNWV-HD2. This seems kinda interesting. Why was this done and why so little fanfare from Rubber City?

Is this the same folks who ran the franken FM? Extra revenue for WNWV and serving a niche market.
La Mega Media (the former TSJ Media) now runs the erstwhile channel 6, WLFM as an online-only entity. If it was them leasing the subchannel, they'd be using the "La Mega" brand, not something that would be resulting in an immediate C&D.

As I said in the other thread, this likely boils down to an operator new to the market that failed to do their due diligence and find out if their preferred branding was actually available for use.

Pure Speculation here, I think iHeart was planning on bringing the Rumba brand to Cleveland. That’s why they were simulcasting on 99.1 and 101.1

An HD2 with no translator? If a tree falls in the forest (you know the rest)
The real name of the game is getting on digital streaming, including car stereos and smartphones. Being on an HD2 is merely supplemental, plus it saves them a lot of money on music royalties.

And to be honest, I can't think of any real good translator that's even available. Certainly not one that can come mostly close to covering the metro like 99.1 can.

The station sounds good. The guy who’s running it has experience within the Cleveland Latino community and broadcasting in general. People are asking how to tune in to HD2 in their cars. The interest is there. Curious to see what’s next on their game plan.

When was that? I don't recall that channel.
Actually, it was Radio Mirchi, which was completely different. Then again, I forgot about that station until now.

Back to Rumba, it is nice to have a Spanish music station on commercial FM again in Cleveland after La Mega went online only a few years back.

Almost as good as when La Mega debuted on NYE 2014. There was a massive blizzard that night and Drew Carey was hosting his NYE special on ABC from Public Square. That didn’t stop people from showing up in record numbers.
