Great catch, although I wouldn't exactly consider CFZM a "super pest" in that they have one of the best sounding AM signals and a unique format that you can't find anywhere else on either AM or FM. And they stay on the own channel!
Contrast that to WBBM which splatters over AT LEAST 5 channels with occasional "spits" onto two more and sounds horrible. Now THAT station really is a super pest! In my area you can't even think about trying to listen to anything on 760, 770, 790, and 800. 750 and 810 aren't much fun to listen to either.
Point taken, poor choice of words probably on my part, but they do make hearing anything else on 740 a challenge at times from my location. Despite their huge signal here, JD asked about the others I've heard on 740. Here's the list sorted from closest to most distant, it looks like there's actually 15 in total. These have all been heard within the last couple of years by creating a deep null on CFZM using two antennas with a phaser.
WRPQ, sunrise
WNOP, sunrise
CFZM, the dominator here
WVLN, heard most mornings just before sunrise in the mix
KBOE, also being heard here lately, pre-sunrise with c/w music
WIRJ, heard before during auroral conditions but not common
KVOX, semi-common pre-sunrise
KRMG, heard often a year or two ago during evening hours, less common now
KCMC, heard just once or twice with a weak signal pre-sunrise
KVOR, just heard for the first time
KTRH, not common but they are occasionally heard pre-sunrise
KATK, heard just once around sunrise, 1228 miles
CBX, occasionally heard around sunrise, but not common, 1424 miles
KBRT, heard just once in February prior to their transmitter move to the mainland around sunrise, 1559 miles
KCBS, heard just once last September before sunrise, 1921 miles
