New Talk Radio in Town

I tried listening during a top of the hour break mid day Tuesday. It was one minute of news headlines from WBRE, followed by five minutes of commercials. I couldn't stand it anymore and turned it off.

Yeah, I'm surprised they didn't sign up with IRN/USA Radio News at least. The Top of Hours are rough.

I'm also not sold on The River voice guy imaging the station.

And where are the per inquiry ads? All the local mom & pop commercials just sounds out of place for a talker :)

I only heard 5-10 minutes this morning (9:50-10) Heard Glenn Beck whine about overthrowing the goverment and way too many commercials. ???

Commercials are a fact of life. You have to pay the bills. But, you can make the overall presentation tolerable. This station falls way short of the mark. It's a moot point. I have this thing about right wingers screaming at me all day, so I won't be listening anyway.

I thought the station would have a stronger singal, especially in WB....

This station is still essentially WCDL-FM...its tower is on Salem Mtn in Carbondale. It has city grade signal in Carbondale but not south of Olyphant. Its 60 dBu signal (1 mV/m for you old timers) stops at Dupont, PA. The 94.5 in Nanticoke causes interference to 94.3's distant signal in Wilkes-Barre. This station has a good Wayne County signal.

Here's their coverage.

Their line up sucks. (I'm sorry, Sam.) And I told them so. :D
WILK has nothing to worry about 'til WFTE hits the air, and maybe not even then.
I agree with the comments already posted about the lack of local live talent.
Without it you don't connect with the community. - imho, that is -

Tuned in on a Saturday morning. I went back and forth while I was out running errands. It is all paid programing and it sounds like conservative NPR... Boooring.... Next time I want to sleep in on Saturday I will tune in.

I attempted to listen to this mess again Monday morning. "Red Eye Radio" is a good show. Two commercials were playing at once, sloppy network re-joins, dead air, Fox anchor cut off in mid sentence... Once again, I gave up and moved on.

Since they're in the same building...are they running the WICK EAS as well? ???
