New Tejano Station

yeah but if you read the rating mega had more ratings than estereo latino

Both the rating and share of KLTN are approximately double that of KLOL. I get the weeklies every Monday and the Monthlies every month.

I don't know what Ratings you are reading, but KLTN and KOVE were both above KLOL on the last Diary for 12+. That's a Lie. KLOL DOES NOT have better ratings than KLTN.

Did you even listen to that station, it was clearly more Regional Mexican (Norteno) than Tejano at one point. They played Solido, Tigrillos, Los Tigres Del Norte, Pesado, Firma, Poder del Norte, and the list goes on. The station was a complete mess after the mid 90's. It simply could not stand to KLTN.

And in the PPM, which is now official for Houston, KLRN and KOVE beat Mega in share.

if you read in this website it says KLOL had more ratings than than Estereo latino, just go to where it says rating and then Houston, it shows you that Mega is on Position 12 and Estereo Latino on position 13

That is cume, not share.

In share (or rating) the last weekly, KLTN was #1 12+ in the market, and KLOL #13. In 18-34 KLOL was #5 and KLTN #2. In the sales demo, 25-54, KLTN was #2, KOVE #9 and KLOL #14, tied with KTJM.

Allow me to chime in with my 2 pesos...

Ok Juanito (Mr Tex Mex), I listened to "La Nortena" over the weekend. When I could pick it up on 101.7 (and that wasn't often). I heard almost 100% norteno. I say ALMOST because I heard 1 Selena song in the 2 hours that I listened. Now if you consider 1 Selena song mixed in with 2 hours of norteno a Tejano-Norteno hybrid then I guess that's what you've got.

As for me, I do listen to 980am and didn't hear anything that would make me want to switch. I'll second what David said... there is a HUGE difference between the Tejano and Norteno audiences and while the sounds are similar, they don't mix much. There is more of a crossover between the Tejano and Country audiences.

Welcome to the board Juan, you'll find that most people that post are pretty knowledgeable about formats and radio in general. Just make sure you try to back your posts with facts instead of opinions. ;D

does anyone listen to 104.9 hd channel 2?
just trying to get a feel of how many listen to it. ???
we just finished adding the PAD date so that you can read the artist and song title on your hd receiver.

I haven't checked, but I did notice it on KLTN HD2. It just says "La casa del Los Houston Texans / La Casas De Los Houston Astros." It also says "KLAT HD 2 102.9" (Of my memrory, I may be wrong)

Also, I've listened to 104.9 in HD in the past, and I noticed that about 2 miles north from 610, I loose the HD signal. It's really weak. Is that the most it is supposed to go out?

I'll try to check for you the HD2 channel for KPTY later today since I am driving in into the City Limits.

I would love to listen to it, but don't really want to replace my factory (not as attractive to theives) radio with a nice hd receiver. Just hasn't felt like that much of a demand yet, especially when am radio is still free  Maybe if Univision were to get rid of 980 then I would be forced to upgrade. Plus, I've grown kind of accustomed to hearing my Tejano on am, its almost normal to me now. When I go to SA and hear KXTN on FM, I don't know what to do with myself ;D

yeah I see you are all smart and all I am doing is asking questions, I am not trying to prove anything al I do is say what I hear

Pelochas, everything seems fine. Both KLTN and KPTY HD channels and Sub Channels are both up and showing the name of songs and ID's.

You may have some problems with the HD2 of KPTY the farther north you go. I know that the analog signal of KPTY barely reaches into the Woodlands and is non existent as far north as Conroe. Same holds true going northwest. Once you get to about Prarie View, KPTY is gone. I would think that as close as you are to the North Loop that the HD signal would still be very strong. Seems odd if you're getting dropout that close to Downtown.

thx for the replies.
HarryOrdinary, even I dont have a HD radio in my truck. just on my work desk.
KPTY is class c3, 2.7 kw ERP sit on top of wells fargo building on 1100 lousinana st. in downtown, i try to visit every week to check things out and take readings
not enough power to cover much outside houston city limits, barely gets to galveston and conroe but mainly if your listening in your auto car stereo

Yeah, the fartest I got KPTY was up to hempstead with a very weak signal and it was getting hammered by Mix 104.7 in Bryan/College Station and a Country Station on the same frequency (I forgot the name of the station).

 So am I the only that gets gas from the station???

HaHaHa, just made my day ;D

No, I am talking about KBUK in La Grange. I was just to lazy to remember it.
