New Trend!

DE when is the date where the info can be made public or at least allowed for more informative discussion about the Houston PPM. I anxiously wait to see the results for the Hispanic stations. By the way, why hasn't Spanish New/talk done better. Ever since Radio Unica went under and most of the talent when to Univision the Talk radio numbers in the Hispanic market have gone down.

The Twister needs to go away, KSCS don't need them anymore since they're in the Top 10 in the ratings.

Especially, now that KSCS is starting to play what they had left for Twister.

Well, The Bone probably didn't get the improvement that they were expecting.

People are probably realizing KZPS isn't what they were afraid it was.

The Houston data will be released around the third week of this month. I just got week two of June this last Monday, so I think mid-week the week of the 16th we have currency data.

The problem with n/t in Spanish is that the audience, like in English, is older. But there is very little 45+ Hispanic population compared to younger demos. And, since there are so many different issues, based on legal status, nation of origin, etc., there is no common bond for all listeners.

The only really dominant Spanish n/t in the Southwest was KTNQ in the 1996-2000 period. All locally programmed, and it got to #8 12+ in LA and beat KFI in 25-54. It was expensive and controverisal and did not make money.

NO, Zps is still sucks, but maybe its that the Bone just sucks more. They are actually more boring than Zps was at their worst. How can their main competitor change and they actually go down? Man, that's gotta hurt.

Seems elementary. If their competitor makes a change that gets a lot of press, TV, etc, they put up a bunch of billboards, etc and a lot of their listeners migrate over to check it out, doesn't it make sense that the Bone's ratings might suffer short term?

The real question there is that once the initial novelty wears off, will those Bone listeners still be checking them out as much...

There's already indications here that some people love it, some people hate the country stuff...

I'd be really interested to see a break down of KZPS's audience in thsi trend-
specifically how high their cume was and what kind of TSL they got from them...

ME too. KZPS had been goin in the right direction ratings wise before this flip. They really didn't go up THAT much in this last trend...the 1st that was totally Lonestar. Curiosity, promotion, etc etc fuled some of that I'm sure....ONe thing I've noticed is that they've backed WAAAAAAAY off the country. I've heard "Back in the Saddle", "Takin Care of Business", "Walk Away" and other same ol same ol classic rock tunes. it seems someone over there has a real hard on for Mellencamp and the Black Crowes too. I haven't really noticed any deepening of the Bone library. We'll see what happens when Cindy and Robert start in AM Drive. IS anyone tuning in to hear Bo & JIm do "That was Skynyrd and this is Mellencamp"????

NO, Zps is still sucks,

They're trying to. They keep mixing in Trent Tomlinson and the chick from AI! They need to avoid Nashville in their mix. They are still playing a lot of "country" that no one will call country if they don't look at the genre it is "assigned" to.

I have heard several deeper cuts, I have never heard before...Zep/Who kind of songs...

From my highly unscientific survey based on anecdotal evidence:

1. A lot of people are enjoying the deeper cuts and the "sound" of the new KZPS.
2. A lot of people tune out when the "country" country songs come on.
3. Repeat #2.
4. Repeat #2.
